I found this: The smaller the CPU to FSB ratio, the more efficiently the processor can work. Therefore, faster frontside bus speeds lead to faster overall performance. When the CPU to FSB ratio is high, the processor often has to wait for data to be sent out over the system bus before getting new data to process. I should've googled it...basically your fsb needs to be higher only as your processor speed gets higher, so if intel is realeasing a 800fsb processor that means they are probably gonna go a litter higher with their actual processor speeds right? I'm glad cus i don't think i could've afforded a more expensive processor anyway.

thats comforting, i hate how technology outdates things so quick......but there has to be some difference right, otherwise there would be no reason for intel to increase it, could it be responsiveness maybe? i'll google it

I ask cus i just bought a laptop with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7200 (4MB/2.00GHz/667MHz) and if you have seen testmy.net's news lately you will see that intel announced its mobile 800fsb processor called the santa rosa. I've never really understood processors just that generally the higher the price, the better. But for example do you think my core 2 duo 2.00GHz/667MHz would outrun a 1.8GHz/800MHz. This stuff is so confusing. I put the extra money towards a dual core in a laptop cus this needs to last me through college, (I'm going to Syracuse University in New York with a major in economics, minor in finance).

no don't be paranoid but yes this will probably happen to you laptop whether it is the inside jack that messes up or the cord itself near the jack. This happened twice to my moms computer and also once to two different friends of mines. i just bought a laptop and i am worried about this too. i wonder if it is still an issue in the most recent models tho.....

I think everyone needs to stop hating on Windows Vista,we shouldn't be hating on it like this. M$ always releases the first OS then releases their true nest gen OS in 2 or 3 years. We see this windows 3.0 in 1990 and 3.1 in 1992, windows 95 and 98, windows 2000 and XP, now its gonna happen with windows vista being the preliminary to the true next gen OS windows vista. So basically what i am saying is that we shouldn't expect much from Vista anyway and, MICROSOFT ISN'T STUPID THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!

Its an Inspiron E1705. I like my set up except I could've gotten the 1.6ghz core 2 duo instead and get 2 gb of ram. I decided to get the faster processor and just 1gb of ram cus I think it would be more of a hassle to upgrade a processor instead of ram. With ram I can keep what ram I already have where as with a processor I have to replace the whole thing.

I'm getting a dell in the $1,000 - $1,100 range and i will be doing light gaming i have Xbox 360 for that but since its Vista i want smooth effects. Should I get the Core 2 Duo T5200 at 1.6Ghz along with a 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400 HyperMemory video card, or should I get a Core 2 Duo T7200 at 2.0Ghz with the Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950? I heard that you can't upgrade video cards on laptops, if that is true i will definitely get the one with the video card.

I am very technologically savy, but there are a couple of things that have escaped me as to what their purpose is and how to use them. If you can, could you clarify? What exactly are podcasts? Are they like radio shows, talk shows, audio, video? And do you have to have an iPod to use podcasts? How do you use RSS feed and implement them into firefox, and is there anywhere else you can use them?

i can do that. it kinda makes sense cus the only time i wa able to make it work was when i was just playing around and troubleshooting. i decided to try and use remote assistance on my laptop using my desktop and 2 different windows live accounts and it worked. i figured it was something internal. I was trying to remote assist my sister at howard who installed some spyware on her laptop. lol but anyway do u think its me, or her. the university might have a firewall, but i kno howard doesnt for p2p. i have encountered this problem also when trying to help friends who all have verizon's wetell modems or gatewats so hopefully howard doesnt have a firewall on it. but anyway i will get back to u and let u kno if it works.

Yeah i might not be getting a new computer so i decided to invest about $75 into a new processor for my computer i currently have: 1GB RAM 256MB ati 9550 2.4GHz pentium 4 I know it wont be a major performance increase (or will it) but i want to be able to convert video files a little bit faster. can anyone give me an estimate on how much faster files will convert. or is it proportional to 2.4GHz/3GHz (sorry I'm a noob). But my main question is how hard will this be doing on a premade hp pavillion. Is there any settings i will have to change in my bios? I did my own video card and ram upgrade and just trying to learn a little. The expert at anything was once a beginner.....

I'm one of those guys with extremely high ping that u see in every computer game. This ranges from games such as America's army to Call of duty 2. Everything i have done is using the shortest ethernet and telephone cords possible, and trying different ones and closing all unnecessary back ground process which was really only AOL. I don't use cablenut but i could give it a try if u think it would help. I am on a 3MB/768kbps connection with verizon dsl. One thing that i can think of is that i use my cheap westell 327w gateway that verizon has sent me when i originally got dsl. I keep my computer running smoothly and i am sure i have no viruses or antispyware, or need to defragment. I use avg and windows sp2 firewall. If nothing anyone can tell me helps then i give up and it may be because i live in the country even tho since i was able to get the special 3MB upgrade from verizon, that means i live close to their local verizon headquarters. I think i may have posted my problem before or used others as referance but it gets annoying when i think i am missing a shot ina game cus of latency. But anyway this is my last attempt then i wont bother anyone anymore about it, promise, lol.
