  1. I never liked AVG. Yeah its great for antivirus i assume....But vary rarely do people actually get virus'es. Most of the time its spyware or adware, that people assume are virus'es. Which virues protection like AVG does nothing for.
  2. You may need to reformat, sometimes swapping HD's to mobo's work, sometimes it doesnt. Be prepared to format if worst case scenario happens. 420 watts should be enough, given you arent using a top top end video card.
  3. I have that same package and get nearly exact figures as you get. Theres nothing much we can do, ive tried weeks maxing this out. 1300 down and 330 up is the best we can get.
  4. Any slight speed difference for me doesnt compare up to the features firefox has over IE. (Pop-up blocker, just overall cleanliness)
  5. i have the same package. My downloads average about 158kb/sec so your right around where your sopposed to be....Ive had this package for almost a year now.
  6. Im on a 1500/384 connection. Ive tried vanbuerens cablenut settings, a few different sets of his, but to no avail, the speeds stay pretty much the same. Is it possible to get any higher? 7. I have a lan cord, isnt that the same as an ethernet cord? Looks like a phone line head, but bigger.
  8. I dont run anything when i do my speed tests, i do my speed tests right after startup, and i turned off any program (besides explorer of course) that starts up automatically at startup.
  9. I have sbc/yahoo dsl with the 1500/384 package. I have a 2wire modem/router, which lets a computer get wireless in the other room. I had it originally hooked up with usb connecter (didnt have lan card at the time). With the usb it was tested at round 990 down. I went out and bought a lan card and used the company lan cord they supplied me with. My speed then was up at 1250 down. From just using lan instead of usb. I have been trying different tweaks on speedguide optimizer, then later onto cablenut settings. And the best ive been able to come up with is 1300 down. (currently using van buren settings). I was wondering what else i could do to get to the 1500. Would a new higher quality lan cord help? Any other finetuning settings i could try? At this point any tidbit of speed would help. Any suggestions i will try. :::..
