  1. Will do the test with the new stuff, on the ram I'm actually planning to dump that stick (DDR133) for a stick of 512 DDR400.
  2. Here's my good system, I'm kind of surprised how low it is. We'll see how much it changes when I get my p4 and new vid card in the mail, hopefully tomorrow. http://gameadvisor.futuremark.com/gameadvisor/service/my_system.jsp?sysInfoId=2480260
  3. You call that a POS comp, check this out! Here's my 2nd pc thats basically limited to web browsing. http://gameadvisor.futuremark.com/gameadvisor/service/my_system.jsp?sysInfoId=2479029
  4. Dual channel is a type of RAM, correct? It isn't a term for using both the slots on the board, right? I will have no problem with two sticks of basic DDR400 ram? Non-ECC, nothing... I'm thinking of grabbing a stick or two of this, I would think Samsung is a good name? http://www.directron.com/ddr400512.html
  5. ? Could you please explain? I'm don't get what you're saying. Here's the link to my mobo *Don't Laugh* http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?DetailID=453&MenuID=0&LanID=9
  6. That one you picked is fine, but here is a cheaper solution. The only negative with these I found is there are no 75ft, either 50 or 100ft. I used for my XBOX the generic yellow 100ft and it works flawlessly. And it's only $13.58 shipped, for 100 feet!!! Have a looksey... [link]
  7. Thanks, that's exactley the info I was looking for. I guess I'll grab a stick of 3200, and sell off my stick of 2100...
  8. I thought the faster ram would just downclock to the slower one? No?
  9. I'm getting ready to upgrade my Celeron for an P4 800 fsb, and drop in a vid card in the 8X AGP slot. I want this thing to go as fast as it can, especially for gaming. Right now my comp has 1 stick of 512mb pc2100 ram. I'm going to buy another 512 stick, only it will pc3200(most my MoBo can handle). Would I be better off having 1 GB of pc2100? or pull out the stick of pc2100, and just have the 512mb pc3200? Is this confusing? Appreciate any advice...
  10. Really? I know that BFG is king-shit, but I was unaware that evga were so awful. Thanks for the info.
  11. This is a good deal if you're are able to grab one online. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130220
  12. The basic is an advertised speed of 4mbps and the premier is 6mbps...
  13. My connection is perfect! I have the oppurtunity to get either preffered or premier but stick with the basic plan which is advertised at 256k up/down. It does what I need it to do, and it's only 25 bucks a month. Here's my download and upload which is screamin for a "256k" connection: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 303 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 37 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Fri Oct 28 2005 22:02:26 GMT-0400 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 5X faster than 56K 1MB download in 27.68 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 8.56 % of your hosts average (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-C1W5R69UO :::.. 14. That's about what I get, ofcourse I'm on the Basic plan which is 256k up/down. Now if you're on the others, which are 4000 and 6000 then you've got a problem!
  15. That's crazy! I want one... LOL Where was it you took that ping test? I'd like to run it... Thanks
  16. Fathom, Are all those test's you posted from mirror's, none from testmy.net. Those speeds are definitley a lot nicer. Try to test here... Dallas seems to be the fastest for me even though I'm in Florida. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ Also, here if you can... http://speedtest.adelphia.net/ Do you experience problems when gaming?
  17. So you've always had those speeds? With and without the router? You're pretty close to what you should be getting, I believe roadrunner standard is 5mb down/ and 384? up so you're doing pretty good. Don't waste your time tweaking because you aren't going to get anywhere. Unless you have the premium service which is 8mb down, but I doubt it. If you want to take a tweak test, go here, it's easy. http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks When it asks you to plug in your advertised speed put 5000
  18. Run the tweak test again at broadbandreports and plug in 6000 where it says Speed (advertised) kbit/s:
  19. Which service here do you have? http://www.shoprogers.com/store/cable/InternetContent/internet.asp On the tweak test you put 5.0 for kB/s, but if you have a 5 mega-byte connection; you would want to plug in 5000 for kB/s. It's alright though, we were all noobs at one time. It definitley looks like you have the extreme service with your upload speed, hmm.
  20. Well, who's your provider and what are your advertised speeds. If your at the cap all the settings in the world won't help.
  21. Nope, can be any size. Just have to make sure it's the right kind, ex. sdram, ddr 2700, etc...
  22. Your 4 cards = 512mb+512mb+512mb+256mb= 1.74gb That's definitley a lot of memory, you should have no issues! I'm running a gig here and 700mb is free!
  23. Adelphia's got this stuff figured out! W/ Firefox :::.. 24. I found degauss through the settings but it didn't fix the problem. I can use my 15" compaq monitor fine on this computer, it doesn't distort or anything like that. Neither did this one up until about a month ago. Through settings, if I use the Sidepin option, it makes no difference. It's like the half of the CRT is not responding and doing what it wants, weird... If I start hitting it, will it blow up in my face. I've got a feeling it might help. LOL
