    New Modem

Can no one recommend an ethernet modem?

    New Modem

Yeah it's similarly shaped to that modem, but newer. So what should I buy? I really need to get something soon.

    New Modem

I don't know the exact model, but it's a ADSL USB SpeedTouch supplied by NTL with my broadband package. The ethernet cable connects to the phone line, and the USB to the computer. I can't remove the USB wire and exchange it for an ethernet cable because the USB wire is soldered right on to the modem.

    New Modem

If you're talking about the router, it's only Ethernet. Where as my modem can only use USB. I mean, the wire is soldered right on to the modem so I can't change it. So, still, I need some suggestions of good Ethernet modems. My broadband speed is 2.2mbps btw.
  5. I need a new modem to go with my D-Link Wireless Gaming Router (DWL-4300) because my current modem is USB connected, and I need ethernet for my router. My current modem is a ADSL Speedtouch supplied by NTL with my package. Any suggestions for a good modem? Price doesn't really matter if it's worth it. Thanks

    Oh, no!

It does have an ethernet port, yes. But that's connected to the phone socket via a cat5e wire. The other wire, which is a USB wire, is soldered right on to the modem.

    Oh, no!

Fairly recently - about a month. My NTL package is the 2mb one, so the advertised download speed is 2mbps. And the network connection reading (default Windows taskbar one) says my speed (download) is 2.2mbps. Before I moved to NTL, I had 516k, and I don't feel much of a difference right now. So, what I want is to try and improve both my upload and download speed. Should I buy a new modem? I'm about to set up a wired & wireless network. My current modem will be connected to a D-Link Wireless Gaming Router, which will be connected to my computer via a cat5e cable. The other PC will have a D-Link PCI card for wireless.

I'm using Windows XP SP2. ISP is NTL. My modem is the one NTL supplied me with, which is a SpeedTouch USB ADSL modem. What should I do? Buy a new modem, if so, what one? Blah. EDIT: Almost forgot. On Dr SpeedTouch, it says my connection speed is (up/down) 288/2.272kbps..
