The cox tech rep just used his Motorola tablet to run Wifi Analyzer app (which I then later got from Cydia on my jailbroken iPad) at my house and showed my wifi signal dipping in strength every 5 seconds consistently. In an ironic twist I had a hunch to set it up on channel 1 18-months ago to avoid interference with neighbors' wifi only for most of them to do the same. After setting to channel 11 which no one was on I saw consistent level with no drops. That may be your entire problem. For me it is only part one of my slow Cox speeds; now I just get consistently slow speeds instead of sometimes even SLOWER speeds :-/

Hi guys, I came across this site recently and kinda like it. Crazy thing is I had a tech rep out to my house and he actually had to install the modem after a splitter to reduce the dB it was receiving because the signal was so strong from the street to the house that it was causing issues. That change along with upgrading my modem from a Motorola SB5101 DOCSIS 2.0 to a Motorola SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 and my 18/2 cable service has been solid at 20/3 according to testmy.net Anyway, The big gulp huh? That article was exactly my experience over the weekend when switching to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. My speed has not been faster, but it seems to be much more consistent and now allows better streaming of HD video across multiple devices simultaneously.
