did the scan and nothing out of the ordinary. when i had that 120+ goin on i was running a bit torrent prog. that might ahve had all that crap up there. after the restart i had 30 running then after a bit it went down to 1-3. heres another question i have to go along with it. i goto http://www.tetonwireless.com/speed.html and my speeds read: Your current bandwidth reading is: 1.65 Mbps and right after or before that test i run testmy : :::.. I spent a good 50 min with my isp's level 3 tech support today. from what there telling me is theres a virus running through the server down in my area thats not allowing some customers there full provisioning speed. they say since they know what it is they will have it fixed with in the next few days. im hoping this holds some truth. the only way i think i can get my speed to be where it needs to be is to uncap my modem, i dont know the process i know it was mentioned and u can get in trouble. so i might stay far from that idea. its a waiting game for now i suppose.

i dont have a whole lot open and ive got over 120 with some that say time_wait, last_ack, close_wait. ill try starting up with nothing runing in startup and try it then.

To take out the possibility of a virus, i reinstalled my OS to see if my speeds will get any better. so far im runing this speed and lower. :::.. Now things that my provider has done. Slapped a huge pole on my house and replaced the internet receiver. Checked the direction of the receiver. Put me on a high priority server so i get my internet before other people. (so they say) They've changed my channel-id 3 times, every time they change it my speed goes back to normal....somthing to ponder why. So im not sure what to do next since theres no traces of any viruses. retook test in the past 5 minutes.... :::.. i had the same issue. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-7422.0 see if they cant get you on a high priority ip so you can get the allocated speed that you should be getting, because u pay for it. also look to see if the cable internet reciever is blocked by trees corn fields anything. if theres stuff in the way that you cant get rid of ask your cable provider to get you a tripod pole to put on top of your house to fix the possibility of debree and "thermal expantion". if it only does those slow speeds at certain times of the day like twards night time or like say 5pm damn near every night then i beleive thats thermal expantion also have them recheck your preferred DNS and alternate sometimes when those might be off a number u get whacky speeds.

alllllllrighty here we go again. i was just running fine untill now its damn near 9:00pm and same thing happens the net dies down to mear dial up speeds. i dont know whats goin on but the techs with my net says its thermal expantion. sooo i dont now what to do. its just odd it happens to die out right at 9:00.

yeah if it were only that easy lol. its been a year since i last checked for service out in my area (5 miles north of town). and the only thing close was a dsl wireless service that offered 1.5megs was 260 bucks a month!
