  1. True, windows 8 the new vista. :tongue2:

Sorry to hear your falling to the liberal side. As many problems as windows based PC's may have, ill never switch to the apple. with the addition of the new SSD drive and a good version of windows 7 ultimate, all is smooth sailings for then next 3-4 years. Fuck windows 8 BTW. Phail of the year.

  2. I am 3 miles from my tower and only running 80% signal right now.

With 100% signal when its working ok I do much better of course. You need to find out where the tower is. Best of luck cappy. And I am using a truckers antenna also.
  3. Fully understandable.

And muddy your funny as always. But then I'd act the same way if I was so invested in apple in the first place. :azn:

Best of luck with it. Hope its all you expected it to be. And with the new windows 8 you may well be right. I hate it. So I am giving it to my kids and getting a referb with windows 7 on it. Be glad when it arrives. It will still run my old programs on it unlike windows 8.

    Again good luck.

  4. So, unfortunately I am joining the Apple Bandwagon and preparing to make the transition to the Macintosh platform. I was curious what the opinions were on what would last me longer.

I am looking at the Mac Book Pro with the Retina Display (15") with the following:

2.8GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz

    16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM

    768GB Flash Storage

And then an iMac (27") with the following:

3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz

    32GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 4x8GB

    768GB Flash Storage

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5

In all the Mac users opinions out here, which would last me longer and be more relevant in the future? If I'm going to spend this kind of money I want something reliable and powerful.

    Thanks,

    EBrown

Sorry to see you switch, so what caused it to happen?

  5. I just got HP windows 8 machine going the last few days, and yes its a super pain to understand, but no issues I don't run into with every new computer I ever get.

I will never own a MAC.  I have better things to do with my money.

  6. I feel sorry for anyone stuck on Windows 8.

Yeah, that should work for you.  Windows 8 takes control over the BIOS, one of my biggest beefs with that OS.   ... uh, geeze, leave my BIOS alone! What the hell are you supposed to do if if totally crashes?  What, you have to put windows 8 on first, just to take control of your BIOS? ... then install what you want, what a headache! What are they going to do next, try to run everything off the cloud and take away my ability to store local files?!   (don't laugh, it could happen... even CPU power could be taken out of your control and processed across the net. Devices could get really, really small in return... basically a display with a connection. But we'll lose our computing freedom. If that happens, the powers that be would have too much control in my opinion. Whole different subject.)

Once you disable UEFI and enable legacy boot you can then boot up off your install media and install like normally, format your drive and install Win7. If you want the ability to use the recovery partition for windows 8 and go back later... don't format the whole drive, only format the partition that's booting windows 8. In other words, leave the recovery partition.

Good luck!  Welcome to TestMy.net by the way!

Yes the username sounded familar from a way back. Welcome back.

I hope they never exert that much control. To me it will ruin the entire experience. Next thing you know a build would not be possible either. Sounds a bit like china to me. Too much control. I have a feeling the RIAA is in there somewhere. Trade group that claims to represent the U.S. recording industry. More like American SS to me.

  7. I"ll have to try that one out. So far so good. :cheesy:

So good to be free again. The fingers are freed. :toothy6:

And to think it only took a fewwwww years to get it back. But then it did get me in a lot of trouble  back then.

But since shug went into hiding it should not be too much trouble ............ oh yeah, momma T is probably still watching me.

    Thanks CABLE. :read:

Hey man... You're a sophist user, you shouldn't have that restriction... I went in and changed it so you and any other accounts higher than a normal registration have that lifted. Anyone who has a good reason like yours to want the restriction lifted can PM me for special account consideration.
