  1. Do you have DSL? If so, do you know how far you are from the CO (central office). I remember being in your speed range JPsDad
  2. I upgraded to 3.0MB service, ATT cleaned up my connection, and TMN AutoTested 2.43M-2.95M from 11-21-16, 6:53PM thru 11-22-16, 8:56PM. Then, in 8 minute interval, 2.44MB, 1.36M, 2.43M, 1.3M. Ever since, my connections are 1.2-1.4M. See the three graphs at the time of change. Since this, I have had multiple conversations with DSLXtreme's Level 2 tech and ATT. Both say that I am connected at 3000KB and have very low noise reading at the Telco interface. Nothing has changed inside the house, (except test results). I would appreciate any suggestions I could pursue.JPsDad https://testmy.net/stats/?&t=u&d=12062016&x=1000&l=25&q=JPsDad
  3. I have DSL from DSLExtreme, (ATTwires). Normally tests 1.3M with only a few % middle variance. But tonight, its insane. Any explanations or suggestions?
  4. Would the inhouse wiring and splitters etc. affect the downspeed far more than upspeed? The upspeeds appear to be correct, but the down speed is absurd. :::.. On bigger download tests, I see a series of peaks with a lot of valleys in between. In a 1.4M upload test, the upload peak was about 4.3Mbit/s for a few seconds.
  5. COX cable says their service is good, but my service is very bad. Download progress is like stop-and-go rushhour traffic. The router is a Linksys E-1000N. We get very good signal strength but poor throughput. How do I keep it flowing? https://testmy.net/stats/?&t=u&d=01272013&x=1&l=20&q=JPsDad JPsDad
  6. I'm running Linux Mint, version 10.10. full install. Are you running a live disto, frugal install, or installed on a thumb drive? I don't do Windoze so I cannot compare. I wish I could right now, because my COX cable is upside down! Look at this and note which is downspeed. JPsDad Image URL: https://testmy.net/E9GOzwa.0H6FdJT.png https://testmy.net/sig/JPsDad.png
  7. I have been trying to watch the video, but because my speed is so slow, the buffering times are much longer than the viewing times. A simple check list would download easily and help the aging brain. I would like to show the sawtooth graph, but have not figured out how yet. JPsDad https://testmy.net/WDztPEI.tk4DLhT.png :::.. 8. Nice looking video, but I need a checklist that gives me the sequence. I have just signed up (less than a week) with DSLExtreme.com, which is on ATT wires. I have been running Autotest and have mostly results of 1.0-1.5M, but from time to time see 266K--289K. I want to post it but have not learned how. Thank you for this great site. JPsDad
  9. I just ran my first test using a TP Link TL-WN722N USB Wireless NIC. My next door neighbour has COX cable and previously my download tests ranged from 0.3Mbps to 4.0Mbps. with the uploads generally a little faster (Centrino Laptop with IPW2200 Card, PuppyLinux5.2) I just loaded Linux Minx 10 (into RAM from Live CD) and it supported the TP Link at Boot! I opened FireFox,to Testmy.net and was amazed to see it race through several successively larger downloads, then display 8.96 Mbps down, 1.1 Mbps up. Even though it is about half the COX average, it sure is better than a half star!. Here is hoping that it lasts - time will tell. JPsDad
  10. Testing a new DSL installation, D/L speed 0.66M, U/L 0.33 by speedtest.net. Testmy.net gives similar download speed, but uploads keep stepping up to larger files that take several minutes before I hit STOP! I am using Firefox 3.6.3 on a Linux Box,Kernel 2.6.32.28
  11. While reading Reply #17, I see a little bug or gnat running around beneath my screen and display. Since I am outside, poolside, I thought it was real for a couple of minutes. Then I realized that it scrolls with the display. Nice job, but how did you do it? BTW, I'm running Puppy Linux from a live CD, so I am protected!
