  1. Yes...not only speed issue but connection issue also. When there is connection...the speed is worst then dial-up. Even onelinkpr.com take more then 5 minutes to load. Its impossible to do anything on onelink. When I called the tech support, the person answer....ur modom is online. We dont see any problem. Try rebooting the modem. Dont use router...blah blah blah. I am really getting tired of onelink now. Does somebody know if DMAX is better (or read stable) then onelink

  2. I completly agree with stealthcat abt the employment market and cost of living. But there is always 2 sides of the coin. While on my way back....I notice all the resturants (chillis, Long Horn, UNO etc) were all full. Small bars near my house were filled at 8PM by teenagers. It made my wonder.....people here always making noise..they dont have money, Government is almost bankrupt....but business is shopping mall, resturants, bars etc are still excellent. Why is that?

I know....middleclass families like mine, we have to pay tax...may be now more tax, where as government (read politicians and their families/friends) have a leisure life. Rich people on this islands walk away without giving appropriate tax. Many family resorts to cheating Hacienda when tax time comes....because Hacienda had made such a hippocratic tax rule that if the taxpayer is a married person..then his house will pay more tax. We have this pushed down our brain from childhood. If u can get anything for free always take it..be it by cheating, stealing, lieing or even killing. When time comes for work, then do 4 hrs and charge 8 hrs. The public schools will be closed from next week...but when I passed in front of a public school...I wonder whether there are any classes also in the school because it appears everybode is wondering outside the school.

The government had already announced of closer from next week. I believe this is for 2 months. I dont know how they will magically have money then when they cant now. I even hear..that hacienda is not going to pay back tax refund (I am one of the misfortunate) because the government needs these money. This money will end up the same way like the increased collection from toll tax on highways ended. Doing something else instead of the original intended purpose.

  3. The problem over here is that the last goverment stole so much money that now the present goverment dont have any. The same thief are not in legislation opposing to everything. These politicians only want to fill their pockets and us morons PRicans keeps up with them. We are moving towards doom and soon whatever happened in Argentina 2 yrs ago will happen here. COMPLETE ECONOMY DISASTER.

Offcourse we PRicans dont care anyway. We only vote for the politians that will promise us that we can have Electricity/water/gasoline/education etc free (read can steal also without any problem) and makes Tax laws that will allow us to evade Income Tax.

  4. Look what the test is showing

  5. actually he's not the owner, if I'm not mistaken he's a moderator. the owner is Wilton Vargas, a repected tecnology guru in puerto rico, he has a section in la mega 106.9 tuesdays at 9am plus he has a podcast

That is an excellent point made.....If I want to read some discussion....I dont want to be bothered with registration. If I found the discussion intresting..& want to participate...then I can register

  6. size of Mt Everest........lol...man ur comment made me laugh.

Though I agree with ur other part of the comment, ie testing through a seperate box rather then messing the servers which are already serving thousands of subscribers. They are using our money to play around. Also...3 months+ for testing and changing....what kind of network admins they hire....high school students

  7. EXPLAIN ME HOW YOU GOT 10.3 Mbps DID YOU UNCAPPED YOUR CABEL MODEM???

I will like to give him the benefit of doubt. It is possible that Onelink by mistake uncapped all the bandwidth or he just get lucky. He need to make some more speed tests possibly with 10MB to be sure.

Anyway....in the morning I was getting around 1 MB of speed. So I guess the issues havent resolved completly, but yesterday I was able to play Halo2 without any problem. I havent played B:MC for a long time so that will be a better indicator.

  8. vforv, have you checked where you are? you are in PR. complaining won't get you S#!t except an ulcer. you get the royal shaft from the government, the utilities and now from your cable provider. you think a place that views a road with more craters than a baghdad marketplace as normal can expect decent infrastrucutre in other areas? lolol

i agree, cap the torrents and other p2p. the gaming is usually legal traffic since most people playing online actually pay for it, so they should see they get that fixed. as for hope? none. move to prtc, get their flavor of the shaft. at least you will stop complaining here that not enough people are complaining.

I completly agree. Here in PR...there is no point in complaining since you will only get trouble. As far as Onelink goes for capping....I dont like how Onelink thinks that there powerlink is for browsing and checking email. Dialup is sufficient for it. Thank you. But I took there service for more reason the this. LIVE Xbox play for 1, online streaming for audio/video (completly legal and subscription based BTW) and VPN connectivity with office.

Now from onelink behavior, it is clear that many powerlink subscribers use their connection for online game play. Hence they have capped the bandwidth on it. This is a completly legal service. Please uncap the bandwidth so that online game play can be enjoyed properly (anyway...with the upload bandwidth they give us...we cant host any game....we just join existing servers). If they succeed in getting away with this...then what next to be capped.

  10. anybody having major lag / disco problems lately?

    (wednesday / friday?)

    i dont have service...

    ... for 11 hours now. ... (cupey)

    *sighs*... :evil::evil1::evil3:

I think around 2 weeks ago, it was Bayamon (most areas) that was having the same issue. There was not cable (and offcourse no powerlink) for abt 24 hrs....not its cupey's turn. I dont know what they are doing.

  11. Yes , actually your downstream levels do not bother me at all, downstream levels need to be -15 to +15 for the modem to receive the signal from the CMTS ( that is onelink signal) now what you are striving for is basically getting as close as possible to 0dbMv. Lets do this analogy ... comparing signals to light... too BRIGHT a signal meaning +15  up and it will be very difficult for the modem to see and too low -15 down and it wont see anything at all. since you are at -4dbmV is not a concern because is actually getting close to 0dbMv.

Now here comes my concern, upstream levels need to be in the +35 up to 55+ at maximum. This is the signal your modem transmit to the cable end (onelink) . So basically you have signal coming to you (DOWNSTREAM) and signal going to them (UPSTREAM).

Here is the best configuration for 2 tv's and cable modem :

You should have a 3 way splitter here. Put the modem on the 3.5db leg of the splitter, and the TVs on the 7db legs. you will see how much signal you lose on each leg by looking at the splitter. If you can give me a bit of more info on the splitters you have i'll gladly help you out.

Remember cable loses signal over distance. And I think your best setup is running the cable modem straight from the first split instead. First let me know what kind of splitters yo have and then i'll help you out.

If after this your upstream levels are not good you definitely need to call Onelink( OUCH! ) for them to fix their upstream/downstream level at their cable box that supplies to your house.

Ok I check the info on the splitter that is on the modem side (2nd splitter). The splitter is 1-120dbv and then saying 6 dbv. also 1-5000 Mhz. The name is (I think) MCR-DCR (something like that). This is a 3 way splitter. In, Out and Tap. The cable modem is connected with Out, while TV with Tap. The In is getting cable from the 1st splitter (I have to open some box in my wall to get that splitter detail (too lazy after office to do that.....will do in the weekend). Hope this info is enough for you to help me out.

After seeing the way Onelink Tech is working.....I am right now not comfortable calling them to do anything here....

  12. remember also that since ur using wireless.....disturbance from cordless etc can also effect the speed. Try using channel 1,6,11 in ur router, and then do speed test again.

Offcourse....head over to linksys site for latest firmware update 1st and then anything else.

  13. right now Indian braodband providers are not too much into residential customers....they are using all there facilities to capture business customers...since they bring high profit margins & less maintainence.....their broadband speed is laughable (although better then dialup) but their plans where u pay per Mbits (or something like that) discourage plentiful users. They need to add some serious bandwidth and unlimitied usage plans (at affordable prices) for India's braodband boom.

  14. rajmarie : your upstream level are really bad , can you give me a bit of details of how is your cable set up at your house, thanks

Yes.....I took the cable with 2 room installation (free offer). From outside the cable comes into my living room (that was the only possibility in my apartment from outside cable box to inside my apartment). There is a spliter over here which takes one end to my bedroom and the other to my penthouse room. Here is where my Xbox is, so I told Adelphia tech to install cable modem there. So they again put a spliter there and have 1 end to my modem and another to TV. Now I have wireless router connected to modem & Xbox, my computer connects with router.

The funny thing is when they install Powerlink (Nov 26, 2005), everything was looking good. Even the speeds were good. But now....maybe thats why these days my LIVE sessions are so screwed up.  What can I do to get a good upstream level then.

Also, why downstream is in negative...can u expain a bit abt that...maybe I need something positive...to get a good download speed....

Also what are these log file entries....I always leave my modem and router on....should I keep my modem in standby to stop onelink from messing with my modem.

  15. hmmmm.... this morning. 9:35AM....

Also in the Log.....I am having a lot of entries as

    2006-02-07 13:42:11 3-Critical T005.0 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync

    2006-02-06 19:27:47 3-Critical U001.0 No UCD's Received - Timeout

What the hell onelink is doing that is giving Critical error in my modem.....I buy this from Adelphia only....Motorola

Maybe this is the reason I am having slow speed. Can somebody explain these entries also,

  17. My only complain is that if something is not working properly on Onelink side, why the hell they are not informing us, they service subscribers. They have our emails id....is it so difficult for them to send is a email telling us that they are having this and this problem, they expect it to be resolved by this and this date and they are sorry for any speed inconvinence caused due to it.

And icing on the cake...I got a letter from Onelink yesterday...saying that the downloads are 4MB from Jan 18.

Please...onelink.....free some bandwidth in the evening.......unblock LIVE....so people can play without getting LAG or worst...DC from server.
