  1. The topic pretty much sums it up. Is there any way I can do this?
  2. Update: I pulled the battery out with the computer unplugged, tried resetting and it didn't change anything. Other suggestions??
  3. Also, when I am taking the battery out, do I unplug the PC from the wall and make sure no power is supplied, or just manually turn the PC off?
  4. Okay, so from what I have read, I reset the CMOS battery just by pulling it out, allowing it to sit for a few minutes, putting it back in, and then resetting the pc. Is that what you did Coknuck?
  5. Hi all, The other my brother was using the computer, wanted to turn it off, but had the mouse unplugged so he just held the in the power button on the front of the tower. The next morning, the computer would not boot. The Dell screen loads when I turn the computer on, and it brings me to the screen where I choose how to start windows (Safe mode, last successful bootup, normally etc.). However, when I choose any of the options, it gets to the windows loading screen and reboots immediately to the dell startup which redirects me to the how to start windows screen. I'm guessing windows may have been corrupted. Would I be able to boot a version of windows from a flash drive, move the data I want to my second HDD, and then reformat the HDD with the corrupt windows? Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!
  6. I'll look into the reg-key issue. How did you find out that was the issue/do you have a guide to fix it? It's listed as the secondary master in the bios.
  7. It shows up in BIOS. It's listed as Pioneer whatever... That's my drive. I feel like it may have been disabled. How would I enable it?
  8. I have had my drive working for a while. Today I started CloneCD and it's telling me no DVD drive found. The drive isn't showing up in windows explorer either. But I can open/close the drive. Any ideas what my issue is? Thanks in advance
  9. I'm not sure about the Ping Utility. How would I check that? It has happened before and randomly it starts working again
  10. Comcast 6 meg internet, Linksys WRT54GS V5 with DD_WRT firmware on it. BTW, does anyone suggest a different/possibly better <snip> frimware? Thanks Edit: Please refrain from using that word, Thank You
  11. Hi again everyone, Hope all is well, and now for the problem: There is something wrong with the communication between the router and the modem. I have internet when connecting the cable directly from the modem to the PC. I've tried power cycling multiple times, plug in modem, plug in router power. I am getting the little or no connectivity error. When both are plugged in, I can go to 192.168.1.1 but not 192.168.1.100. I can unplug the cable that runs between the modem and router, and I don't get network cable has been unplugged error, but as soon as I turn off the modem, that error pops up. Suggestions? Thanks
  12. Ok, well I think I finally fixed it. Thanks for all of the help. I ended up booting in safe mode and deleting the growing directory with the unlocker. Thanks for all of the help.
  13. The unlocker gives me the message that I can not delete it, and asks if i would like to delete it for the next reboot. I chose yes, so after Spybot runs Ill try that. This blows
  14. I did end up having a problem with it before, tried uninstalling and re-installing etc. but ended up not being able to install it.. it would stop and say that I would have to restart before installation could continue, Eventually i gave up and was just going to use windows. Now I can't run the uninstaller, and it's stuck! I deleted my system restore points earlier too...
  15. So I can't stop the kav.exe process even with an unlocker. I managed to delete 40 gigs of crap, enough space to install and run Spybot S&D.... SO if it is kaspersky itself, how can i stop this beast!?
