Greetings,all.

The bottom line is that Verizon has only been telling people that the D-Link was the only router that could be used with the service. They cut a deal for some really cheap routers and then made a few software adjustments in the firmware to allow them to troubleshoot. However, as anyone on here should know, Verizon is completely clueless as to the operational aspects of this new fiber, or it's characteristics. They never even mastered the DSL. The simple truth is this, it does not matter what brand of router you use. I hooked my 30/5 connection up to my Netgear FSV 328 router which the connects into my garage to a Netgear 10/100 DS108 Switch which then disperses the B/W on demand through the house in any of the 10 RJ-45 ports I had installed. Additionally, since my family also use a total of four notebooks I used on of the eight LAN ports from the 328 to connect to a WAP54 (I'm not positive about that Linksys AP without getting up) but to a Linksys G Type Access point to tap into the LAN and the Fios for the Laptops and they all worked perfectly. The only change required to the router was a change to type of connection protocol required and the connection was fine, the wireless was just as uneventful other than setting the security up on the AP, theses days you need the max. TKIP Shared Key- at least. Lastly to the "customer", I would recommend against buying a Linksys Router or AP, the reason is that they are the cheapest you can get and therefore, likely the only kind in your neighborhood. If you ever have to setup your router or AP from scratch again all of those unsecured routers, most named "Linksys" will interfere with your ability to set up. As

Just though I would update my results with the "CableNut" program and one of the "fiberoptic" settings supplied. I must say the guys who worked on this and all of those who contibute, this is a work well done indeed, the difference it made most especially in my upload speeds was "awsome".

What you need to do is make certain that your router is rated high enough (with some margin above) for the full speed you are trying to get, when I went to the 10MB cable I had to upgrade my Netgear firewall FVS218 to the 328 which OS rated for 52 MB's down and 15 MB's up, I have hooked it up to the FIOS line while using the same mac as the supplied D-Link and changing the connection type and MTU to 1492, connected instantly and no problem routing thru my switch in the garage and my Linksys Wireless 54g Access Point, but speed make :angry5: no difference, wired, wireless, d-link etc. the FIO service so far has not given me what it should with either the 15/2 or the 30/5 especially on the upload side which is where it really helps with online gaming and for 179.00 you would think you could get closer to 5Mbps than 1.25 which is the max. upstream in 200 tests.

I am now posting my speeds with the upgraded to the 30/5 package and it still is crap. I can often average about 25mbps down but I have never achieved greater than 1.20mbps upstream which is pretty bad to be representative of what is supposed to be 5 mbps up. With the 15/2 package I could get about 14 mbps down but never more than 0.8 mbps upstream, again pitiful.

I don't have to test the upload it will be no higher than 1.2 mbps I also have the brighthouse roadrunner service as well with the 10 mbps package 10/1 and on that package I am able to get 9.5 mbps down and 8-850 kilobits up, this is fairley close to the 10/1, closer than the fiber. You can get a 15/2 package with RR too if you subscribe to their digital phone service. I can't justify 179.00 for the 30/5, and you have to sign up for a one year commitment for that. If I could consitantly get within 8-10 % at least of the rated I would consider it, but I don't have close.

I am in Land O Lakes, which is in Pasco county about 10-15 mile north of Tampa proper.

Greetings all, my first post here, it is a nice well kept site, Kudos to it's master.

I am in Tampa Fl in the upper most regions and I have the fiber end in my front yard and also the cable head and the DSL DSLAM box too.

At the moment I have both the Bright house RR and the Fios,-RR moved Me up to 10mbps dn and 1 mbps 10/1 and it gets that consistently (after a lot of tweaking and other hoops. I have only had the Fios since 12/8, it is faster but not as consistent.

I would just like to get my advertised speed with Fios now. I just got the 15 mbps/2mbps, I can get the 15, but not even half of the proposed 2mbps and I was thinking of going to the 30 dn/5 up plan (179.00 with a one year).

Is anyone getting the fios package with any of these speeds
