  1. Problems contact http://www.reachtospace.org/show_info.php?p=mc[quote author=greg_23805 North American Division Hughes Network Systems, LLC 11717 Exploration Lane Germantown, MD 20876 301-428-7083 [email protected] link=topic=23480.msg273146#msg273146 date=1212717690] I 've learned some things in the last 2 days. Suddenly 3 days ago signal strength would drop from 72 to 15. Adjustments to dish did no good. Called DWay, the manual params for satellite had me on G11 1350 frequency, couldn't keep a signal. DWay said they needed to send out installer because it was dish pointing issue. I refused to believe that so did not accept an appointment for technician. Went into setup and picked G11 1070 freq, voila, sig strength 63, exited and it worked overnight but this morning, sig strength 15 again. Checked setup and I'm back on 1350 frequency. Adjustments didn't help. Power cycling the modem, sig strength would be 72 and then drop to 15 almost right away. Called DWay back. Last call day before they said if I found a freq that was good, to call back and they would switch the account to that freq. Well, today they said there is no room on any other frequencies and I had to stay on 1370. hmm, then I asked, don't you mean 1350, NO, you are setup for 1370. So I switched the freq to 1370 and sig strength was 15, highest I could get it was 19. Earlier I had ohmed cables, changed out the coupling block outside, switched the xmit and receive cables on both ends to see if it was receive cable, no help. I've done a lot of adjusting of my sat dishes and knew that there was something else wrong. So I went on about con calls etc today to try and get some work done, meanwhile keeping the antenna pointing sig strength meter on the desktop. After it sat there for about an hour at 15 and bouncing to 30 and then back to 15, it suddenly went to 70 and stayed there for about 15 minutes, then dropped again. Incidentally, few if any clouds. Then about 20 minutes later it went back to 70 so I did an auto cross-pol and it passed. I then was able to re-register and now I have the connection back. Very frustrating, not sure what was going on at NOC to finally get a good signal and it stay there. We'll see how long it lasts. 1. I think DWay will sometimes change me to a different frequency without me knowing. It happened in the past and I just adjusted for the new freq and moved on. 2. Adjusting the dish is a joke if you haven't been on a frequency before or try others then try to go back to the one you were on. Anyhow, nothing about this is straight forward and I'm still not convinced that there wasn't something wrong on the NOC end. We'll see how long this signal lasts. Also, I am on the pro plan and only get download speeds of 500-600 with the HN7000s modem. It sucks but I'll be damned if I'm messing with it anytime soon. when I first got the modem, speeds were around 1k.
  2. I am using a local ISP, he leases DSL lines. Then puts antenna,s on a few water towers around the area.. Then he sells customers DSL from phone company capped at 2meg on my end, for 50$ a month installation is $100.00 with a one year commitment. They use a small Motorola antenna on top my house to receive signal. I have tested over 200 times on speedtest.net and averages speed is 1.5 meg. Never got that from Hughes. If I do have any problems I just call a local number and the owner answer in English! My best speed test ever was 4.365 meg.down. Other question about sharing numbers, sorry that would not be fair to Hughes as they have been good to me. But you can find out who to contact as I did using the web, Their email address are there. :.. 3. Hughes gave poor service, slow download speed andcould or would not solve problem.
  4. Received following from Hughes Customer Care. Hi Mr. White: Should you decide to cancel we will waive your ETF and give a $200.00 refund for your equipment. Please save all your e- mail, or migrate to out look, or something. I will take care of the $300 ETF, and will send you return labels for the equipment. Hughes did not charge my credit and am in process of returning Modem and Radio for refund. You just have to talk to the right people in USA.

  12. I switched from the DW4000 in Feb. to the HNS7000. It took awhile for Executive Customer Care and I to work out the bugs. Did speed test, re point dish to IA8 Freq. 1230, new radio, took dish off roof and mounted on pole and brought new Dish. Then re point to Satmax 5 Freq 970. (at my request) Now my average download speed is 1 to 1.5 meg. Signal strength 79. . Hughes Executive Customer Care are the nicest and most knowledgeable people I have had the pleasure talking to. Hughes does care about our problems, but it is just getting our concerns to the right people state side. The cost to me was very little compared to the cost, time and effort spent by Hughes.

  14. I had the same problem with my DW4000 and finally gave in to Hughes and switch to the HNS 7000. Better speed but nothing compared to my old DW4000 a year ago. Hughes will not help you with the DW4000. My speed on the proplus plan is between 400 and 500 kbs during peak times and around 1 meg other times. 1.5 Meg. off peak hours. Your connection is: 1450 Kbps or 1.5 Mbps You downloaded at: 177 kB/s You are running: 25 times faster than 56K and can download 1 megabyte in 5.79 second(s) Member Ident:Username:Private CompID:615722117773 Test Time:: 2007/07/12 - 3:29pm Test Browser and OS info: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 Test ID: J3XH2TRDM (if this is a screenshot go to testmy.net to see if this is fake) Diagnosis ^info^: Awesome! 20% + : 36.41 % faster than the average for host (direcpc.com) This was tested from a 1496 kB file and took 8.453 seconds to complete
  15. Tommie when you change modems you stay on same bird and Transponder. I requested the re point of dish. They also changed radio transmitter on the dish. Hughes paid for the service call. I have been talking with Excutive Customer Care trying to get slow speed resolved. They are great to work. I just had a big problem finding out who to contact.
  16. You need to remove the old DW4000 proxy. I removed all of the DW4000 files too. But when you do the uninstall it does not remove the proxy. But when I finally got to upper level support they had me go to my proxy settings and remove all and then it worked. Try deleting all proxy settings and see what happens.
  17. I had the same problem when I upgraded to the HN7000S from the DW4000. Be sure you have deleted the old proxy settings, for the DW4000. I was getting no DNS with Firefox and windows. When you removed DW4000 software it does not remove the proxy settings.
  18. Anyone on the new bird? If so please show speed test. I am thinking of switching to Wild Blue from Hughes or is WB just as bad? Thanks
  19. Save your $25.00, I subscribed to satspeed at copperhead and cannot access downloads or message boards. What a rip off. Will not even reply to my email.
  20. Transponder change, I have a HN7000S . Advance support will not change my transponder or Freq. and have closed my case. Was told that these download speeds are good during peak hours. Also told me Hughes launched a new Bird 90 days ago and speed will get better. I am on the Pro Plan. Anyone have Hughes corporate office phone? If anyone has any suggestions please post. dw up February 25th, 06:58PM - 239/86 Kbps February 25th, 04:52PM - 182/69 Kbps February 25th, 04:49PM - 196/64 Kbps February 25th, 04:45PM - 106/42 Kbps February 25th, 03:43PM - 49/43 Kbps February 25th, 03:41PM - 102/76 Kbps February 25th, 03:37PM - 169/114 Kbps

  22. I had the same problem with my DW4000, download was between 8 and 45 kbps during peak times. So I upgreaded to the HN7000S and down load speed is between 200 and 300kbps. Which I believe is slow I am on the Pro plan and Hughes customer support could care less. They have 11 birds in the air seems like they could do better. Wildblue just as bad and only have one bird.
