  1. well I am definately making the switch over to EVDO. So if anyone is interested, I have a DW6000, DW7000 and dish for sale. May throw it up on Ebay.
  2. Not sure how much I actually download a month, or how strict they are in enforcing that limit. However, It does seem a bit quicker. I am on in the evening when my Hughes is normally sluggish... Latency on the Sat was 1100-1200ms. EVDO is running 200-230ms. Speeds are similar. During the day, I'm sure Sat is faster...but the much lower latency on the EVDO makes it seem quicker.
  3. Had a buddy in the office be the Verizon EVDO guinea pig. Installed huis personally...seems to be averaging: 600mbps download and (burst up to 900, supposedly up to 2mB) 130mbps upload (supposedly bursting to 300) If I can get those speeds at my house and I can figure out how to share the internet connection over my 3 pc's...I won't have to put up with the weather outages and of course my broadband can go with me. Verizon did raise their price though...so it is about the same price per month as Hughes. Anyone know what the latency is on Satellite? Verizon was around 232ms
  4. i THINK my corporate firewall had it blocked for some reason. I could get on it at home, but not work. They're becoming Nazi's these days. I complained and now it's working again.
  5. for some reason I can't get my hughes.net email tis morning. from their website or through outlook.
  6. no fluke...what I normally get sucks. 8. Well, may have my answer (unfortunately, no solution). I am working from Home today and got good speeds. Speeds I can live with...however, I am never home during the day and if it is always going to be jammed in the evening, then it does me no good. In the evenings when I am home the speeds are half this or less. :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 1097 Kbps about 1.1 Mbps (tested with 1013 kB) Download Speed is:: 134 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 184 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 22 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/03/12 - 7:39am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-ZPYJBQVWA U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-VZI160Y2D User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30) [!]
  9. Upgraded to a new PC...everything is coming preloaded with Vista. Speeds sucked, even though I know it's just Hughes.net, I figured I'd try the LCCU file since the tech would tell me that anyway...as if it ever helped. File won't install on the Vista machine.
  10. I was just notified that Verizon went broadband in my area. I was at a Kiosk and got anywhere from 650kbps to 1056kbps. I also think the upload is faster than Satellite. Would that be better than such a crappy upload on Sat...and unreliable download speeds?
  11. Is this a decent bird? Transmit Path: Satellite Outroute: Primary Longitude: 89 West Receive Frequency: 1330 MHz Receive Symbol Rate: 30 Msps Receive Polarization: Vertical Transmit Polarization: Horizontal 22KHz Tone: Off
  12. I want to know if I'm on a crappy sat. My download speeds seem to always suck and I don't have the patience for phone support. Virus & Spyware free, PC is plenty fast.
  13. The latest (high) speeds that I tested were from a computer running wireless. I also have a PC that is hard wired and I was originally testing on that PC. Other than the router, I don't have any additional firewall running.
  14. Yeah, but I ran those same "more accurate" test files earlier in the day and it was the same as the night before. I have a nagging feeling there was some sort of bandwidth choke that "magically" disappeared when I called & complained. Maybe not...but I didn't do ANY new tweaks...what I read I had done already. I'll check it again tonight around 9 and see what I get.
  15. I tried to run both tests around 9pm (EST) and it was so slow I gave up. I tried again at 11:30 PM (Eastern Time) and got the following, :::.. 16. on work PC during the day. Will try and get to it tonight. Thanks
  17. As a side note, I have been reading this site for a while trying to figure the problem out, but most of the tweaks appear to be for DW4000. Several people say you can't tweak a self hosted system like the DW7000, so I figured I would post. I tried a few of the tweaks when I had the DW6000 but did not see an improvement.
  18. I am on the DW7000. I thought maybe it was the computer so I just went out and bought a brand new computer (needed it anyway). AMD 3200+ 1GB DDR Ram ATI Radeon Pro 9700 (from previous pc) No spyware, no virus, clean hard drive.

I started with the DW6000, crap speeds, now I have DW7000 proffessional and well you can see not much has changed other than I am paying more for those crap speeds. After an hour with Direcway tech, he basically said the bandwidth was low on my satellite..sorry. If I was getting 50-60 upload speeds he could further work with me to improve upon those. Thing is NO MATTER what time I check it (for the past months, weeekdays, weeknights, weekends, etc) I have never gotten better than 50 upload & 600 download. According to the website the "TYPICAL" speeds (not max typical) for proffessional is 100 upload and 650-750 download. obviously mine are nowhere near that. I need major help, or I need someone that is good with explosives.
  20. Here are my wonderful stats with a professional on the DW7000...duped again with the hype. :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 28 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Upload Speed is:: 3 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server1) Test Time:: Mon Feb 20 22:27:18 EST 2006 Bottom Line:: 1X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 341.33 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 35.44 % of your hosts average (direcpc.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-E9X3BDY80
  21. I'd feel sorry for you but I'm probably paying twice as much and spent the extra for the DW7000 just to get the same speeds. DW=Definately Worthless
