  1. Questions for Voltageman and VyraX.

The both of you are turning in some amazing speeds. Do you both subscribe to the 15 down, 2 up service or are you buying the 30 down, 5 up package? If your answer is the former, what is and where can I find the Verizon optimizer to which you refer? If your answer is the latter, your speeds makes sense. Otherwise, I am astounded. I thought the throughput was governed by Verizon and it would be impossible to exceed those limits.

  2.

I'm afraid I didn't get the results I had hoped for. I used the Dallas server and clocked at around 8.5Mbps. I went to Speedtest.net and got these results:

    81771651.png

I came back to Testmy.net and tried the dual test again and received slightly better results than my first posted speeds. No complaints, though. Thanks for the CableNut Tweak.

  3. Yes..Redstone Arsenal (RSA) is right in the middle of town...About 12,000 people work on RSA for different entities of the government

I was in the military (Army) here from '84-'88 (Hawk and Patriot Missle Electronics)

I was a subcontractor with Northrop Grumman on RSA from '89-'96 ( a job where I would have to kill you if I told you..LOL)

I am now a subcontractor with Teledyne Brown ('03-?) working remotely with Scientific Payloads currently on the International Space Station..

As for Talladega...that was my first NASCAR race....A real experience...100,000 drunk rednecks cheering at cars running 200mph around an oval track.

Since then I have seen 2 - Daytona 500's.(in-laws live in Daytona Beach)

  4. Clarence congratulation for your speed

    its well good :)

vanburen being part of the cablenut team i think he should soon :)

    anyway

what i think its missing saying in here is that testmy.net has been having some problems with the upload speed test so as you have already noticed your self u got a 2Mb speed test some where that was not testmy.net and in here u get a lower martk.

dont worry ca3le is on this problem and hopefully we will all be able to test uploads more acuratly

Thanks for the welcome, "Just a regular - little green alien dude". As many custom settings files that I got from VanBuren, I thought that he must be a part of CableNut. Thanks for telling me about the upload speed test problem. I appreciate the service you provide and this incredible forum. I've never seen anything like it.

  5. Depending on the week, Huntsville is either #2 or #3 in Technology behind Silicon Valley.

I work for NASA/Space Station on the Army arsenal in Huntsville...

Never heard of Peterman...Although I googled it and your 281 miles South of where I live

Well, that brought back a few memories. I actually lived in Monroeville and drove to the mill in Peterman. That area of Alabama is about as country as country can get. I used to drive to Excel and Frisco city to hang out with the people I met on the job. I remember a town, or what used to be a town, between Monroeville and Excel. It looked like a ghost town. Most all of the buildings were still standing, including the Bank, which still had the name of that Bank painted on the side of the wall. I think it was gutted from a fire. I always wondered what made the people up and leave. I remember a town, if you can call it that, named Burnt Corn. It sits at the intersection of where 5 roads meet. I always thought that was a good name for a town. It was more like a small community.

  8. Welcome Clarence...(You sure came in with a BANG!!)

You guys are making me sick... :icon_pale:

I can only dream of speeds like that...especially with a price of $49.95...

Is there a website that shows upcoming places that Fiber is coming to??

    thx

    Mark

Hello Bamafamily. Here's the only thing I could find that mentions where FIOS is heading. Hope this helps. I assume you hail from Alabama. If so, do you live anywhere near Peterman? I used to work in a Plywood Mill there.

  9. I meant use the 2992MB test for your upload. :) Here is the 2992MB test for your upload, it's more accurate. https://testmy.net/u_load.php?ni=1&tt=1&s=2992&st=st&ta=&top=&align=center&

I get less than advertised upload speeds. I've never gotten over 1.8Mbps.

  11. Clarence you should Test with the 2992MB test for your upload its more accurate. ;)

Hi Speedy. When I select the 2992MB test, it automatically runs it, plus 5983MB and, lastly, 12160MB. I don't know how to run a test using only 2992MB. Any suggestions?

    Clarence

This is what I got after selecting the 2992MB test.

  12. VanBuren, I changed back to the T3 settings and ZOOM. Under the previous settings, the download progress bar would halt briefly several times before completion. With the T3 settings, the progress bar goes so fast  that if you aren't paying attention, you'll miss it. It scrolls across witout halting from beginning to end. A sight to see. Here are my latestt speeds.

I'm going to change back to the T3 settings to see if my speed goes back up over 15Mbps. If you still want to experiment, I'll be glad to help.

  14. hey Clarence and welcome to the forum :)

thats some nice speed, do you have win XP SP2 installed?

    VanBuren :)

Hello, VanBuren and thanks for the welcome. Yes, I do have XP SP2 installed. I'll probably keep trying different settings just for the fun of it. I put a few bucks in the collection plate in appreciation for your hard work. Thanks to everyone on this forum. If I keep coming here, I'm liable to learn something and that could be dangerous.

  15. You are probably aware of this web site. This is the results I get when I run their test. My download is below 15Mbps but my upload is above 2Mbps.

This java applet was developed to test the reliablity and operational status of your desktop computer and network connection. It does this by sending data between your computer and this remote NDT server. These tests will determine:

The slowest link in the end-to-end path (Dial-up modem to 10 Gbps Ethernet/OC-192)

    The Ethernet duplex setting (full or half);

If congestion is limiting end-to-end throughput.

It can also identify 2 serious error conditions:

    Duplex Mismatch

Excessive packet loss due to faulty cables.

A test takes about 20 seconds. Click on "start" to begin.

I loaded the T3 file first and then I loaded the Verizon Fios file. I've run the download test 4 times and it looks like my speed declined a little.

I' m going to reload the T3 settings to see what happens.  I will have to send Van Buren a thank you note.

Thanks for your help. BTW, upload speed remained at 1.7Mbps.

  18. After all that download this file VanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_4.zip https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1013.0. Once downloaded open file click on VanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_4 then click on the first file, open  "Win2k XP Fiberoptic" after  that find the file named "Verizon_Fios_15000_2000. Then put that on your adjuster Click "Save To Registry" and reboot once again. Then post if any affects happen to your Internet Connection. :) Good Luck ;)

HA! Looks like I jumped the gun. I loaded a tweak file for a T3 connection. My Upload speed improved from 1.6 to 1.7.
