  1. You said you upgraded, $500, you must have gotten a whole new system and not an upgrade. I still use my 4000 dish and LNB, I have only upgraded my modem ($49.99) and I just recently changed out my transmitter. Do you know what sat you are on and frequency, signal strength etc.? This can be found at http://192.168.0.1/ which the installer should have shown you. Posting system information do not include your SAN and Site ID. Post transmission and receive errors under those buttons and signal strength under System Status. Sometimes errors are from a marginally pointed setup.
  2. No, no, no, you need to use a specific antenna with the right connector and not your home remedy or did you get the USB with no external connector? If you know someone with a Sprint phone have them come over and see what they get for a signal.
  3. I personally wouldn't use a Ford Fusion to deliver Pepsi. Maybe if you cut back on a couple of cases it wouldn't put any pressure on the back window. :haha: Very interesting though.
  4. I think you need to do some reading and understanding of what does what here. A little insight will go a long way on what you can get out of your FIOS. Example, do you know what FIOS means?
  5. Double check on the drivers, remember even though it's exciting double check everything you do, good luck.
  6. I've never tried shooting paint balls. But if I find someone that will throw some up for me I'll give it a go. I'll let you know how many I can hit and I live in ny also.
  7. x_6985381 Top reasons for random, fatal crashes 1) Power Supply - a bad (or insufficient) power supply is the most common cause for random crashes, especially if you have a lot of cards, drives, or fans, or have a dual-processor motherboard. A 350W or 400W power supply is recommended if you're experiencing this problem. 2) A mix of FAT32 and NTFS drives - If you have more than one hard disk, and there are different file systems on each one, try converting them all to NTFS. 3) Audio Card Drivers: - try removing your sound card, or at least uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers. 4) USB Hub: - if you have a USB hub, try eliminating it and see if that solves the problem (especially if you have a USB-based Palm cradle and your system crashes every time you hotsync). 5) Overheating: - a computer will crash if the processor overheats. Make sure the CPU fan/fans are working, and that the processor temperature (read in the BIOS screen) is within normal limits. Make sure your computer case has adequate ventilation. 6) Bad memory: - a bad memory module can cause this problem. Try removing one of the modules (if applicable) to see if that solves the problem; rotate through all modules until you've found the culprit. Note that some computers require memory to be installed in pairs, so, for example, if you have four modules, you'll have to remove two (no more, no fewer) for this test. Here is a list of compatible memory and CPU's for your motherboard: http://www.evga.com/community/messageboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21137

  9. I did solve that stain problem, but I had to find a used replacement dish that didn't have any BB holes in it.
  10. Should we put a picture of a satellite dish on the top?
  11. No suspicion at all. I don't believe any are throttling as all believe. I remember reading somewhere and that (throttling) was an assumption that someone came up with and everyone jumped on it. There has to be control over the system and that is where FAP came in and has been there as long as i can remember. The other control is the limit on what your system is allowed to do (your monthly package) but to get these rates it probably had to be developed on an uncrowded frequency before being implemented. So just like a highway that at times is almost empty your speed will be good and when traffic picks up speeds drop. And if you want more speed you need to change to another highway that can handle it (a higher package). As far as ping times, there is the distance traveled and nothing can be done to change that except get off satellite. Throttling pings, I don't think so, that data pack of a ping is extremely small. I believe that these "back to normal pings" that you say WildBlue is getting are more than likely the same that they had when the customer base on a beam was low. I think there are many assumptions and thoughts that more should be given for the price of satellite internet. But that is probably due to maybe having had or using a land based broadband and then using satellite, there is no comparison, they are totally different. Myself having had a phone line at one time and then with nothing else but the satellite will not make that throttling assumption. I get near the package claim, (up to or more) but when traffic gets heavy it slows down like everyone else's. I have learned to work with it, calling tech support and talking to someone that probably has never even installed a system doesn't cut it for me. Besides they have no control on your PC and what lurks inside of it to slow your connection down, the system works.

  13. Its really not a satellite but a makeshift reflector. You could incorporate the strainer into a cap so it would be less noticeable, the size of the hat would determine the size of the reflector.
  14. :haha: Your so bright I bet the old timers called you sonny but how do you expect me to remember that??????
  15. It would be interesting to find which is better. Your temperature looks OK for now but if you go up one degree it may be wise to see a doctor.
  16. Are you to be graduating too, finally.
  17. I still have my slide rule, the only memory in it is mine.
  18. Has been working here all morning.
  19. Back to the original post, disturbed has 2 drives, each with a different windows but can't dual boot, only by changing the bios setting to the drive he wants because only 1 drive can be primary. I remember a type of manual switch a number of years ago that let you use up to three drives on the same PC each with it's own OS. The switch let you choose which drive you wanted to boot from each with an IDE connection. The only other way I know of is to partition the drive for each OS and then the bios will ask which OS before booting the OS.
  20. AGGR3, , I can only make small cakes on the wood stove but Happy Birthday. /happy_bday.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':bday:' />:' />
  21. I think he thinks he's 00something or another
  22. OK Buckeyes69 here's the deal, since Hughes only recognizes their tests let's use them plus easier to read taking less space. Make sure you run the necessary cleaning once a day while doing this and run a test every half hour (or hour) during your slow times, be waiting, this is the start.
