  1. I too am on Windows 7. When I was running Vista I had 5.9 in everything except my hard drive pulled it down to 5.3.
  2. Looks like they added quite a few things. http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/features.html
  3. If you hurry you can get acronis 10 for free, which I have used and works well. Also as mentioned Drive Image XML is good, which I exclusively now. Oops, sorry here is the link to acronis 10 http://www.acronis.co.uk/mag/ati10pe
  4. Thanks for the help. I ended up going with the LG L227WTG. It had good reviews and seems like a good monitor. My only worry is about the poor rap that TN panels get. Anyone here have this monitor?
  5. hi, Just wanted to get some opinions on these monitors that I have been looking at. Dell E228WFP DELL SP2208WFP DELL ULTRASHARP 2208WFP I do lots of image editing so color accuracy and contrast are the most important. I will be calibrating the monitor though. Does anyone use any of these LCD's or what would you recommend for a 22" LCD? Thanks in advance.
  6. Oh yea forgot, running xp pro. I used drive image xml to create it but since I did a drive to drive image I can not do an incremental backup since I did not use xml format to backup. Yes it will be interested to hear what others do. I don't like backing up to a proprietary format but rather backup the same as copying and pasting a file.
  7. Hi all been awhile since I have posted on here (do alot of lurking though). I have a hard drive that is a backup drive that is an image of my C:, I have tested it to boot up and all works ok. What program or method would be best to be able to make incremental backups to it including new software that I have installed or anything that has been added to my main C: ? I have made the image so if something fails (windows ) on my main C: drive I can just swap them out and remake the image (obviously) but my backup image is way out of date. Thanks in advance.
  8. Good deal, glad I could help.
  9. There is a reg key you can add to your registry to delete compress old files from disk cleanup. Add this to a text file. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerVolumeCachesCompress old files] and rename the text file whatever you want but change the extension to .reg I have done it on all my machines and only takes a few seconds to run disk cleanup.
  10. I've got 300 and 250 GB drives in my desktop, 80 external, added my other old external 60 gig drive to my tivo, and have 60 in my laptop.
  11. Here is a link you may want to check out http://winhlp.com/WxDMA.htm.
  12. you went into each subfolder of 4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318, (subfolders being labeled 0000, 0001, etc..) and looked for every instance of MasterIdDataChecksum and SlaveIdDataChecksum and deleted those keys? And you rebooted? (sorry, not trying to make you feel stupid or nothing, this just always worked for me) Hmm, I don't know what else to say, what kind of drive is giving you problems?
  13. I have a registry file that fixes that but I will have to get it for you later, I am getting ready for work. My TDK drive does this all the time. Ok, I had time to find it, I thought it was a reg file but you just modify some keys in the redistry, you might backup the reg before hand but it always works for me. Do this: Re-enable DMA using the Registry Editor My thanks go to my fellow MVP Alexander Grigoriev who taught me this method. Run REGEDIT. Go to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} It has subkeys like 0000, 0001, 0002, etc. Normally 0001 is the primary IDE channel, 0002 the secondary, but other numbers can occur under certain circumstances. You have to go through these subkeys and check the DriverDesc value until you find the proper IDE channel. Delete MasterIdDataChecksum or SlaveIdDataChecksum, depending on whether the device in question is attached as master or slave, but it can't actually hurt to delete both. Reboot. The drive DMA capabilities will be redetected. Open Device Manager again and check whether the device is now actually using DMA mode. If so, congratulations, you've made it (at least until the next time Windows disables DMA).
  14. The only work around that comes to my mind is to import her library into your library and make a playlist that has only her music. Then when she connects her ipod tell itunes to only synchronize her playlist, which you can do in the ipod preferences within itunes. The only drawback is when you want to look through your library you will see all of her music too.
  15. Hey all, I have been looking around for guides for setting up to dual boot xp and ubuntu linux and haven't found anything I like. I thought there was a guide here but can't find it. If someone could point me to a good guide I would appreciate it. I don't want to use vmware and I would like to do it without having to reinstall windows, if at all possible. Thanks in advance
  16. Never happened to me, but you might try deleting that flash update file or even completely empty your temp files and try to defrag again. That is weird it shows the flash file to be 40 gigs when it should be 1 meg.
  17. Hey all, quick question regarding the master password setting in firefox. If I remove the master password would it make it easier for someone outside of my LAN to get the passwords or is it just to protect from someone sitting at my computer and getting my passwords? Thanks Let me know if I need to make the question clearer.
  18. Flat state of Kansas here. yay
  19. I love it. Has always worked great for me. With alcohol just click virtual drive on the left or select File>>Options>>Virtual Drive and select the number of drives you want and rename them as you wish. To mount just right click an image file and select mount image or right click one of your virtual drives in explorer and select mount image and point to the image file.
  20. I like the new banners. Nice to see change sometimes.
  21. In windows explorer go to Tools>>>Folder Options>>>>File Types then scroll to your .WAV extension and make sure it opens with windows media player. Hope this helps.
