I think im going to go with a satellite and dial-up binded connection to get the best for playing video games.
  3. I'll ask him next time im down there (few weeks ) I'd call him but i dont know his number or his last name lol
  4. one of my soon to be neighbors has it. he gets a pretty solid connection. lives about 50 yards away from where my house is
  5. No, i dont know what technology they are using Thanks for the info man, have you ever tried to play games on that card?
  6. I will get an external antenna if i can find one. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobileoptions/broadband/index.jsp
  7. Here is link to its specs: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/phonedetailpopup.jsp?item=planFirst&phoneId=1821 If i get this, i would prob end up getting one of those PCI cards for my desktop PC to use this type of card. I had one a few years back wit ha wireless card i had for my network.
  8. Im thinking of getting this card for the rural area im moving to. How do you think this thing will handle to play video games? (CS:Source, other FPS's...)
  9. Cool, well i've tinkered with a few ideas here. A friend of mine uses one of those verizon cards that go into your computer that use verizon's cell towers to access the internet. He says i can get up to 1 mb dl and a few hundred kb upload with that bad boy. I figure it would be better because the signal does not travel that far. Any idea on what yoiu guys think? Im gonan go research...
  10. Can you guys notice a difference when on satellite when you surf the internet rather than using dial up? (I forgot to mention that i cant play source at all on dial up. I get horrible ping =/ )
  11. Thanks for all the input guys. Would WB or DW warn me if i get near my FAP limit? Are there any programs to detect it? Also, is there any way for me to mod my connection? When i get this satellite connection, i will of course play with it, but is there anything specific i can do?
  12. That is a good idea, but i dont think my area is wired for it. Telco=Telephone Company i assume
  13. Forgot to thank you guys for welcoming me! Should I aim to get the fastest download speed? And is there a large difference between the different plans? (for wild blue, after reading reviews of WB, its a must have over DW)
  14. wow, wild blue looks like an awsome alternative to direcway T1, yea thats pretty much the same idea i have. Im gonna go play Source on dial up in a few and i'll see how she handles.
  15. Hello, i came accross your site and you people look like the people who could help me. I currently live in NJ, and for personal reasons I am forced to move to Maryland. The section i am moving too is very rural and iu cannot get cable, dsl, or ISDN. (I was suprised about the ISDN, but it looks like most of the major providers are grandfathering ISDN in maryland. Which means they will support current customers, but will not accept new one's.) So i am stuck with dial up (and in my area, the lines are not updated. so im stuck with 28.8 kbps) and it looks like i am going to get Direcway aka. Hughes net. My big problem is that i want to play video games (BF2, CS:Source, etc.) but you cannot do this with satellite. Here is my possible solution. I was talking to a buddy of mine and i were talking and we were thinking about maybe bridging a dial up connection and the dw connection. I could use the direcway's bandwidth and the dialups lan lines to lower my latency. What do you guys think? and maybe if this works, all of you who miss online games could do this too.
