  4. Okay here it is. Just a side note, for Advertised kbit/s, I put 9999, since Optimum Online usually offers 10000/1000. Is this the right thing to do? http://www.broadbandreports.com/tweakr/block:13d1ba6?service=cable&speed=9999&os=winXP&via=normal I believe the reason it says I am unpingable is because I am running ZA.

Cablenut has done nothing but reduce all my speeds in the past. My MAIN problem is that the stupid modem continuously switches on and off (the lights do their dance, I get a "network cable unplugged" error message, and then they come back 15 seconds later, only to disappear again in 5 minutes or so. It's especially sad that my speed is so low because not a month or two back, my speed was well into the 6000 or even 7000 range. Also, I know my upload speed has been capped (damn OOL!), but that should not be the cause, because the speed hit at least 5000 with the cap not too long ago. This is a recent problem. Please advise, this is bothering me oh-so-much. Thank you!
  8. Nevermind, I figured it out. And I just reset the settings, so I'm back to 5.5 mbps. I think I'll give OOL a call. Thanks.
  9. Ok well it's still not as fast as before, like 3.5 mbps....so I dunno....but how do I find the new drivers for the NIC?
  10. so bosanac, did you call the people? Is that what I need to do? Just call the optimum online people? i've heard they do numerous checks on your computer and internet...
  11. Alright well apparently I'm a complete n00b because I really don't know how to update my NIC driver.....could you tell me where to go for it? OK, I set it to 10 half duplex. 15. Hi...this problem has been bugging me for about a week now. Here's the little story: about 2 weeks ago I wanted to try testing my speeds. At the time, I had winxp sp1. Through all the different tests online I had an average of 1 mbps down and 900 kbps up. This continued until I started trying to make things faster, when I finally got up to about 4 mbps down and 1 mbps up. That's awesome! I thought. About a week later, I ritually checked the speeds again....and whoa...about 5 mbps down but like 180 kbps up...for what seems like no reason! I didn't make any drastic changes.... Anyway, I reinstalled windows (for other reasons too) and dled SP2. The first thing I did was check my speed....6 mbps down, and 200 kbps up!!!! I don't understand what happened to the upload speed????!! And technically on a brand new system.... So now I'm running winxp sp2 (I dled the p2p fix...and set the connections to 99, was that good?), with optonline.net as my ISP, but I really don't know how to check my advertised connection speed....any help on that as well?
