  1. Microsoft Antispyware appears to be a great program. It found 11 instances of spyware, on my system, that Spybot and Ad-aware missed. Get it here http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
  2. Since the Comcast upgrade I've tried everything to get to my cap of 4000/378. Van Buren's tweaks got me an extra couple hundred kbps closer but I was routinely getting 3600 down. I was using an old Linksys BEFCMU10 modem. Everyone said upgrading modems will make no difference. Well I tried it anyway. I got a D-Link DCM-202, and am now getting a steady 4000 down. :::.. And get it from Best Buy, so if there is no difference you can return it with no problems.

Thanks for the info. And how about the modem? I'm using an old Linksys befcmu10. I couldn't find anything about bandwidth caps for this one and Linksys hasn't had updated firmware since I've had it (over 3 years).

Has anyone found that switching to a newer ethernet adapter speeds up your connection? I'm currently using the onboard lan, very ancient, and am considering upgrading to a newer pci adapter. Could this make a difference even though my card is already operating at 100Mbps/full duplex?
  5. Wait that link may not show MY results. Will probably show yours.
  6. I'm using Van Burens 4000/384. Best tweak yet, getting me about 80% of my cap. Trying to do better. Check out my result of TCP analyzer on speedguide.net. https://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php?DATA_OFFSET=40&TCP_Options_string=020405b40103030301010402&IP_MTU_DISCOVER=1&WIN=64000&RWIN=512000&MSS=1460&SCALE=3&TTL=49&TSOPT=0&SACK_PERM=1&IP_TOS=32&IP=24.218.141.198&timestamp=1108208204 It displays RWIN at 512000, not 563,200 as shownin Cablenut. Is RWIN registering in Cablenut?
  7. Netmasta, I'm still getting erratic test results. I noticed from zip code lookup on speakeasy you're from my town, and you managed to reach 3.9Mbps. Is that stable now? Did you put a call in to Comcast? Any info is appreciated. My speed is ranging same as yours, 3.2-3.6. Which tweak are you using?

  10. Van Buren, in version 5, there is no 4000/ 384? Closest is 4000/ 512?
  11. Just wondering, if you guys are using cablenut tweaks, specifically Van Buren's, could you please state what version and tweak file you're using?
  12. Since recieving the Comcast upgrade to 4000/384, I've been trying to get the most of my connection. Before the upgrade (from 3MB) I would routinely get speeds 10% faster than what I paid for. Now I'm trying to get my speeds up to the advertised 4MBps. I'm running Windows XP home, sp2. Old Linksys cable modem through D-Link 624 router. All updates /drivers/firmware are up to date, with the exception of the modem. Linksys does not offer a firmware upgrade for my modem. I'm wondering if this may hinder my connection. Well here are my speeds. Note these were improved after trying various Cablnut settings. The best speed achieved was using Van Burens ver. 5 ( Cable and DSL 5000 384) . Thanks VB for your hard work. I know these are acceptable speeds, but I wonder if they can be improved. Note, the speeds were faster with this tweak than with Van Burens 4000 512 (the tweak that best matches my connection?) :::..
