thats not what i meant, i meant that its an AWESOME speed, but its dissapointing that he cant get the extra 6 meg out of it to make it even better. BTW what do you pay for something that fast, i bet its good for gaming if you do any. And sorry dlewis, i should have explained myself better
-
Althought the Download is kind of dissapointing, you do have nice speeds

no, i connected my dads computer directly to the modem(sorry i worded the last post wrong) and it still was fading out. Just about a half an hour ago i was testing it out again and I started to dl a file and got it to go up to 324ish steady for about a good minute and then it went down to 280ish and stayed there. I think it is just an isp problem. i think ill wait it out and see what goes on in the future and maybe post back if i have further problems.
thx alot

i connected it direct to my dads computer and i am still dlding at like 180ish and below. it willstart out at like 300 and go down to 180ish gradually and then stay in that general area
-
could it be a settings that is within my computer that is limiting me to a certain speed
the best constant dl rate i have had is at about 125 kbps and it usually starts off at 300 or so and thats what it should be. the guy said i have a 16+connection so he said its good.
-
what? my computer. ya i could, id have to do it in a couple of days tho. my ping on games like bf2 stays at 29-30 and usually only gets as high as 50 and it loads webpages super fast. its just the dl speeds that are dissapointing. but when i test it on testmy.net chicago mirror it says i dl at like 320ish kbps. does anybody have a clean file i can monitor when dl-ding and doesn't have all of the bandwidth taken up by other people
-
well, i tried the tcp optomizer. it started out at about 320kbps and then went gradually down to 120 in a matter of about 10secs and stayed there. could it be a problem with the router?
-
i have a linksys something, with speedbooster. im about 2 floors up from the router about 25-30 feet
-
wait a sec... i just tested on my dads computer, which btw is hooked up througha cord from the router(im hooked up wireless) and got this which it much more satisfying for ordering 3meg
