  1. it is 169.xxx.xxx.xxx?  I would really try and power cycle the router.. that is a router issue not an internet issue.  You should be able to receive an IP address whether or not you have internet.

It is an internet problem and yes it shows 169.xxx.xxx.xxx even after I power cycle modem(direct to PC).The router is fine it shows 192.168.1.100.The only way the modem will get the IP is by unplugging the modem power AND COAX.Plug modem back in,then I wait for the receive light to stay on then I put the coax back in,works every time other wise it shows the 169.xxx.xxx.xxx if I don't unplug the coax.

  2. I've only had this problem with Time Warner. This PC was on Charter before and it had no problems connecting to the modem or router,it's Time Warner.Like I said above thats only way it will get the IP is when I unplug the coax other wise it shows 164.xxx.xxx or something like that and limited or no connectivity. So if someone is having the same problem try as I said above.

    Windows XP Home SP2

  4. just so you know with that pci x setup on that ECS you will lose the 1st pci slot.my epox is the same way.and your gonna lose performance by only running in single channel mode.the kits are the same price. unless you plan on putting another 1 gb stick in there later?.

  5. get the other board.it has a better chipset more pci slots and on board raid, and you don't need a floppy for sata hdd's also if you have a dual channel motherboard use it.one more thing the ati chipset might not play nice with your 7600gt.you really don't need that cpu fan unless your gonna overclock but  i can run mine at 2.5mhz on the stock hsf.

  8. It wont connect to the internet directly from the cable modem,I've always had that problem,it has problems getting the IP.But problem is when downloading a big file the speed just drops and it stops communicating.

I got TWC coming out tomorrow.I was on the phone with them and they said the modem, router and pc look fine.

  9. Yes I'm using a router(Dlink DI 524) and just the windows firewall. It did this about two months ago now it's doing it again.I'll try without the router and see what happens.
