  1. Stopped into the local Apple store last night and checked OS X out. Very nice! Was tempted to get an iMac, but with the wife and kids next door, thought better of it. Wife said she wanted an iPhone, so I got her a brochure  :evil6: .Over all, being a Windows user, I'm pretty impressed and looks like I'm gonna have figure out how to sneak a Mac into my network. Did get one of the freebie black OS X T-shirts, though  :grin2:

  2. Nah, never seen it b4 , but best served from a damp cellar at riverside pub IMO , (so I have been told :evil6:) then let it settle for 5 Min's , then shout "short measure" to the barman ,

:2funny: Poured incorrectly it can get a head bigger than mine ,

again that is just heresay ,

Actually, I meant the picture in the lower left corner. It is of Norman Wisdom, one of my favorite comedians.

  3. Agreed. Here's what they say about it:

2008 seems to be the year when the Internet address space becomes very hard to get. This fact prompts the IPv6 Forum to send a serious call to action to its members and to the global Internet community to get ready for IPv6 transition prior to that date to benefit from technology refresh and smooth transition planning.
  4. Test your Vista Internet Connection with the Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx.

The Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool checks your Internet router to see if it supports certain technologies. You can use this tool on a PC running either the Windows Vista or Windows XP operating system. If you're planning to run Windows Vista, this tool can verify whether your existing Internet router supports advanced features, such as improved download speeds and face-to-face collaboration using Windows Meeting Space.

The tool is intended to be run from a home network behind a home Internet (NAT) router. Running this tool from behind a corporate firewall or on operating systems other than those specified above won't produce accurate results. This tool requires administrator privileges to run.

The tests can require up to 10 minutes to complete and do not make any permanent changes to your router. For the most accurate results, your computer should be connected directly to your Internet router, using a wired connection.

Note Although it is unlikely, testing might interrupt your Internet connectivity or cause your router to stop responding. If you require uninterrupted Internet access at this time (for example, if you are in the middle of downloading a large file, bidding on a time-sensitive Internet auction, or playing an online game), you should wait and do this testing at another time.

Ran mine through my D-Link DIR-655, wihich supports all of the tested technologies.

  5. Thought I would test out Solaris10 on an x86 machine.

  6. Just found out that D-Link now offers a Yahoo Widget for use with the DIR-655, which I picked up last week. http://www.dlink.com/products/DIR-655/yahoo-widgets/#

I am quickly becoming a D-Link convert, as I used to like Netgear products. It looks like D-Link caters to it's customer base more so than Netgear. Here is a screenshot of the widget:

    widgets_enlarge.gif

Also looks like there are some nice widgets from Yahoo, more so than the standard Vista Sidebar Gadgets.

  7. Looks very nice. I don't know if I'd want to sit in front of it looking at the neat display all the time, but I'm sure it will be the start of some good competition for other manufacturers. I just picked up a D-Link DIR655 http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=530 and I love it. Very easy setup and a good GUI for fine tuning my network. It is replacing a Netgear WGT624 which i liked, but wanted a gigabit router for my NAS. I bought a Netgear WNR854T (yes I like Netgear ! :lipsrsealed: ) which sounded pretty good. BOY was I wrong  :evil2: What a piece of junk! It took forever to get the thing up and running, and even then I had to reboot the thing numerous times, even after updating the firmware. Eventually, I returned it and got the D-Link, which took about 15 minutes to get installed and all the settings done.

The Belkin looks sleek, but I don't have any experience with their networking products.

  8. I think they boosted the upload in the Danbury, CT area. I used to get 768kbps max!

  9. Nice find Roco.

Ohhh, the memories.... Marmite marmite.gif, Bubble & Squeak, Pigs-in-a-blanket, Beans on Toast, Black Pudding  :idiot2:, and who can forget the infamous "Brains Faggots with gravy".  :haha: .

I am able to get some of my favorites over here, like Marmite ($25.00 for a 1lb Jar !  ), and some good sweets such as Crunchie, Flake, Malteesers, Turkish Delight, Trebor Mints and Smarties.  :smitten:
