tdawnaz reacted to elkay in Is there a problem with the GB server?
Tested a week ago, I was getting >90mb. In the last few days, I was getting between 5 & 25mb. I have been testing with a cabled connection & wireless switched off.
Tried some other speedtests tonight, and the were indicating c. 90mb.
So I switched my server to the DE server and tried again - and got 90mb!
So it appears to me that there is an issue with the GB server. Either that or my host (VirginMedia) doesn't like it....
Anyone else encounter this problem?
Update:
Actually it appears that at one stage I had changed to "Global multithread" and that was where my results became inconsistent. reset to London now, and it is better - though still slower than my Dusseldorf tests. (I'm In Belfast, Northern Ireland).
regards
Elkay

tdawnaz got a reaction from Vandreal in Why Do My Results Differ From Speedtest.net / Ookla Speed Tests?
my results there are always out of this world...great numbers...like vanity sizing...but if i really wanna know if these jeans make my butt big tmn is the looking glass i believe...not always the numbers i wanna see...but hey sometimes the truth hurts...
like right now i'm having an issue that began in early april...most likely my modem...testing here toldl me something is wrong...i called cox and they wanted me to do a test using speedtest inside their network...i said i wouldn't go by that (first off i don't go to any websites or dl anything off their network that i know of)..i told her .that i could already tell her that what it was gonna say...25+...here lately i'm getting 8 or so...so just for the hell of it i took a test there...yep...34...if i went by them i'd never know i have a problem at all...so yes these jeans right now do make my butt look big...but they lied to me
i love tmn

tdawnaz reacted to CA3LE in Database Member Rank
It's taking your underscore and making it a space...
The program that ranks ISPs is the same as the one that ranks members. For ISPs I want to strip unwanted characters and capitalize letters. I didn't realize that it was manipulating the usernames like that. I went in and fixed it real fast.
On your results your username was also being capitalized (you can't see this yourself because for you it says "My Results"). I fixed that too. People's usernames should be displayed how they typed them.
As EBrown said, ranking and stats go by your username not display name. Display name is mostly for the forum. ... however in your case your display name and username are the same so you'd be looking for spudler_t either way.

tdawnaz reacted to coknuck in Veterans Day
Veterans Day is always observed officially on November 11, regardless of the day of the week on which it falls. The Veterans Day National Ceremony, like most ceremonies around the nation, is held on Veterans Day itself. However, when Veterans Day falls on a weekday, many communities choose to hold Veterans Day parades or other celebrations on the weekend before or after November 11 so that more people can participate.

the short answer is 883.246 young kids died for our freedom in WW1 ,
our UK remembrance date is 11/11 .annually
I will be there , ( (ex Royal Air Force Air Sea rescue) “RAF”,
Our UK remembrance wll include the quote “
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
they mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.”
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain”
That always reduces me to tears ,
BTW, our UK service also includes our USA & allied friends
Indeed we were one back then ,but now thankfully still kissing cousins,
Best regards to all on TMN,
Roco

tdawnaz got a reaction from CA3LE in Speeds differ between Windows and Linux tests?
wow that IS quite a difference...
hopefully someone here has an answer
there are more than a few linux gurus in here...
i have ubuntu...but i'm pretty lame in how it all works **snicker**
i just like to say things like "run a test and post your image" so the techie guys can help...
it would also help if you post up some info about your hardware...what's all in your box and connected to it.
