HubCity got a reaction from CA3LE in New version speed test results too high
Just ran both versions.  Both were in the 70-75 range.

Then ran each again and similar results in the 70-75 range.

This is what I've been getting for months as I mentioned in earlier post, so both seem to report about the same now.  The few I got at 100 was nice but perhaps was not real.

HubCity got a reaction from CA3LE in New version speed test results too high
Just tried the old test twice and only got 70-80 Mbps, so something is different ?

Then I did another of the new test and got 78 Mbps ??? strange.....

I'll just add my 2 cents here also.  About a year ago, a lighting hit took out my mother board ethernet port.  I used to get consistent 100 Mbps speeds to Dallas, with multi thread off.  I purchased a  cheap Gigabit PCI Express card from TP-Link and the best it would give me was around 70 Mbps.  I just assumed it was not as good as my now fried MB port, but at least I was back on-online.  I haven't tested my speed for maybe a week or so and noticed the new interface (looks good).  Now I'm getting again consistent 100 Mbps speeds again.  Don't know if it was the changes you made or perhaps my ISP finally fixed the poor node in my neighborhood.  I've always had problems bonding to 4 good channels with my modem and would usually need to reset it 3-4 times to get good channels, but even then the best I would get was around 70 Mbps.  What ever changed to get me back to 100 Mbps is great.  Keep up the good work.

I was going to edit my prior post, but for some reason there is no EDIT buttion on it.

I did some more web searching and found some information on drive letter assignment and it appears there is no consistant method in Windos when it assigns drive letters, so I just hope the results will be understandable when I install Win 7 on the new drive.

I already created an image backup of my WinXP C: drive just in case something bad happens.

Now I just need to wait another week or so till the new hardware and Win 7 OS are delivered.

Will report back when its done.

    Thanks for replies

You are correct in that it could assign the drives as anything under win7 it will not effect your xp in the slightest though and it doesn't matter a whole lot I would probably do it under Win7 just to make sure I don't erase or move a critical system partition

Also once assigned you can always change drive letter assignment under win7 you shouldn't even need a reboot as they won't be system disks

I think I understand what you are saying.

Install the new HD with WinXP and it will be assigned as drive H:

Question:  Should I create the additional partitions I want with XP or Win 7 or does it not matter ?

Install Win 7 on new HD, it will now be identified as drive C: when running Win 7.

Old & new drive setup would be as follows when running either OS:

Win XP          Win 7 (new HD)

    C:                  C:
    D:                  D: (xp c)
    E:                  E: (xp d)
    F:                  F: (xp e)
    G:                 G: (xp f)
    H: (7)            H: (7 g)
    I: (7)              I: (7 h)

Or, I am completly off base on I what I think the drive letter assignment will be ?

    Thanks again.

HubCity got a reaction from Pgoodwin1 in Problems on Dallas Server ?
Suddenlink tried to pull the same thing on me some months ago.  Their tester never showed any slowdown and tech support would not take any action because their tester was consistant speed test during peak evening hours.  My speed at the time would drop to less then 4 Mb/s, which was about 10% of my normal speed.  I used my packet sniffer built into my old Sygate firewall and monitored the trafic log to determine where the test packets were coming from.  Then using reverse lookup on the IPs, I determined they came from within Suddenlink's own backbone of servers and never once came from outside their backbone, so the test never showed any slowdown due to peak evening usage.  TMN was giving me the true story of the speed slowdown.  I presented this information to the maintenance superviser as normal tech support was a waste of time.  Within two weeks, my speed during those hours was back to normal as apparently they changed their routing, added more equipment, or fixed the problem.  Obviously, Suddenlink was the cause of the bottleneck.  There was alot more history to this story, but I kept it short.

    Good luck...

I have the same problem with the Dallas server. For months I've been getting around 40 Mb/s and today I get less than 8 Mb/s. East and West coast tests are giving around 18-20 Mb/s.

And today, speed is back to normal for me. Must have been some temporary routing/bottleneck slowdown.

I had a similar issue some years ago.  Was related to the GPU card not be seated well or possible slot, card edge problem.  When my wife dusted off the computer, she also dusted off the rear cables and found out just slight movement of the video cable caused the problem as it was moving the internal card.  Cleaning the card edge, and reseating the card corrected the problem.  Also was carefull not to move cables in rear of computer anymore and did my own dusting....lol.

HubCity got a reaction from mudmanc4 in Sorry, I need to rant.......
You are absolutely right, the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting or having a thrill shooting guns. It has to do with the right of the people to insure there will never be another tyrannical government dictating our lives. Look at history and every time there was a tyrannical dictator, you know who they were, the first action they take is to disarm the populace. Those who continue to push the socialist/communist agenda want to take away the guns are now using children as their political shields because of the actions of a psychotic madman. A gun is nothing but a tool, an instrument, not unlike a vehicle, knife, club, axe, etc. The problem is the social degeneration of the people with violent movies (Hollywood) , violent computer games, poor parenting, resulting is a total lack of respect or feeling for the lives of others.
    Just my two cents…..
