difference between wireless isp and wireless lan?

thank you very much. now i know that i have to include a wireless router in my setup. -
hi all, i am new to this wireless thing and would just like to know the difference between the two. do they both operate at 2.4 ghz? bottom line is, could i connect to a wireless isp using a wireless lan card? thanks and regards
