  1. Private, I am at DW 4000 and Moxilla is working ok. Proxy is 127.0.0.1, port 83. If I remove proxy and port it works again but slower. About HNS7000 I don't think there could be a problem (unless proxy settings are to be specified in the modem and not in the computer) except that you must have full control of your computer, so that you can make the necessary changes. If I got it right, you want to use Moxilla with HNS7000, right? But it doesn't work with the proxy? What if you try without the proxy? It should work, but slower. And then you have to find a workaround to have full privileges as computer administrator to be able to change settings. About the last issue, you should just know the password for the Administrator account, log in with that account, and see what you can do there to put proxy in Moxilla. You should also scan for any spyware/malware/viruses, might just be the case. Hope you resolve this. Anyway, if not, contact those who set your computer up and installed the programs.
  2. This is the problem??? Added memory? And the computer doesn't work? Why you don't remove the added memory? The computer will work. The problem will disappear. You will reboot again your computer and might think of diagnosing it yourself, or sending it to a tech guy.
  3. Hi I have the Hughes net satellite connection (DW 4000) and recently acquired an ADSL line. The question is: can these two connections bonded in XP (bridged), so that the new bond (bridge) has the speeds of both integrated? Has anyone done this? Please let me know if this is possible. I tried after searching how to do this but didn't succeed. Best
  4. I saw the quiz but didn't do it, cos for general information I'm not a computer maniac but a guy who shared his experience with others. I guess you imagine me looking terrified to the Bitmeter if it falls down so that I start tweaking the system....... heheheh, not my case pal. The problem IS that simple people who deal with internet and computers must know how internet and computers work and how things can be solved. This was my case before I joined this forum: I didn't know much about tweaks and so on, and now I'm better informed on this stuff. You should also bear in mind that I run a WISP, so I have to care for customers, not only for myself, so even if I become a computer maniac () this is a professional illness not a mental one :) My only intent for the posting that started this discussion was to help other people who have bad experiences with the signal. The point was this: you should first be sure to get your system OK, and then lokalize the REAL problem. Anyway, peace to all...
  5. This is what happens to a 512/128 kb/s line, after defragmenting hard disk, scaning for viruses and spyware, defragmenting registry, cleaning hard disk of everything, and disk cleaning, continuously, 3-4 times a day: DOUBLE SPEED... 126 KB/s
  6. I'm already doing that bigdawwg1, have XP to host DW4000 and then a Linux machine. But if I upgrade to DW4200, a modem is added to the two existing ones and I can, then, remove the XP computer and connect directly to the Linux machine. What I'm asking (if anybody had such an experience, of course), is that in this scenario (DW4200---Linux) is there any tweaks to be done if the line gets down, or everything is managed by DW? What can you say about your experience with DW4000, bigdawwg1, is there anything to tweak in the DW software installed on XP environment? Have you tried any tweaks there or just tweaks on the XP? If I upgrade to HN7000s, is there any tweaks for it, inside the box? I have the 4000 since 18 months, but since I found this forum 2-3 months ago I started to tweak XP (I was just newbie then and now I'm a tweaking expert:P) and learned a lot of things. If somebody is interested on my experience: the XP computer with DW4000 needs constantly tweaks, almost full time care. I got a 512/128 line and usually when I tweak it constantly I get 512 and up (my record, i guess, 1mbit). Only this afternoon something strange happened, for about 3-4 hours the line was at 7-15 kilobit, then came back to normal. God knows why (apart DW... Anyway, cheers and thanks
  7. I have a DW 4000 but I'm talking of having the server in Linux, to manage the LAN. Nobody will work in the server, it will be just a server.
  8. Does anybody uses Hughes net satellite in Linux? If yes, does a Linux environment accepts any kind of Tweaks or everything is managed within the modem? Blendi
  9. we're always speaking for a 512/128 kb line. blendi

  12. I don't have direct link with hughes net and will ask my ISP to ask them and then give you the due feedback. blendi
  13. Anyway, thanks for the help, I'll try and contact Hughes.net. Blendi
  14. But, I am directly connected to the modem. The XP I'm mentioning is the server. From this computer I cannot ping. The scenario is like this: LAN-MikroTik router-XP server-Modem-Satellite-Hughes.net. Blendi
