I will check this out and I am from Fort Worth living in Scroggins. NE Tx in the sticks. I believe that this is why I am having some of my internet issues. I have heared that there are still areas here that have no service at all.

Damn, yea I come from around that area (Gainsville Sherman Area) and I have never heard of that so you must be in the sticks. 

I am new here and would really like some help. Since I moved away from my computer guru back in Fort Worth. Well my computer has never been the same.

I had the miss fortune of having my old computer decimated by the download of IE*8 and bought this new computer with vista on it.  Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX.

I have the older version of this computer that I have managed to get running good enough for my mom to play on the internet, but will want to tweak it later for her.

I have many questions and will post some more later.

Just happy to find a good site to get good 411 from.

I hate to say it appears these Tea Parties were as much a gimmick as I had initially thought. Things have gone from bad to worse. In every sense of the word. I dont necessarily blame it all on Obama but July 4th should have had massive Tea Parties. I must say it is nice to be surrounded by people here who get it.   Well as it happens I have found that it is not vista that is slowing my downloads biut as stated peers!!!!

I managed to test my download with a 600 mb file that utorrent use to test my connection,and I downloaded that file in 7 minutes so its all ok

thinking about just getting some new speakers, since that's mainly my problem. I figure there's no sense in spending ridiculous amounts of money on a stereo system when I don't really care that much about KICKING bass. I just like a nice crisp sounding system.

Ok back to what i said in the very begining  my brother uses virgin media 2mb I use the same server but 20mb I tried to download the same tracker as he did he got it in a few hours mine days and days. So I guess if its not vista then maybe the ports utorrent is using ? So how do i know what to change it too the ports i mean.

And is utorrent better than bitcomet and azureus I thought lightweight was better maybe I am wrong?

Just wish I could get the best out of my 20 Mb connection aybe i shoud just cancel my broadband

I dont think youll be able to do it for that. You could buy a NICE MP3 deck and some speakers. A sub is out for that price. You will need an amp and a sub. You MAY be able to get a nice sub and nice amp for 300 but not all of what you are wanting.

I would put the money in a nice deck and then when you can buy the sub and amp.

I use Kicker amps and JL subs. They are my favs. Rockford is not bad on subs and kicker has some nice subs of their own. Infinity used to make a great amp for cheap but I dont know about them. I spent about 1500 bucks to put a deck, two JL comp subs and an amp in my truck.

I would definantly suggest you DONT waste your money on cheap subs. You WILL blow them out. Fast.

Ok so if there are that many seeds you are doing ok there unless you got a bunch of fakes. If you let it run for a few hours and it is still that slow I would try changing the port utorrent uses and then forward your new port through your router/firewall. Utorrent should do most of this for you.

I have Vista and use Utorrent and generally download at about 200-800kB. I doubt Vista has anything to do with it. I would guess either a port is not forwarded properly or the port your using is a suspected BT port and throttled back. Other than that I would suggest finding a new torrent/tracker for the file you want. There are usually multiple different files to choose from.

www.btjunkie.com does a good job of finding dup files.

I think it could corrupt or delete your profile, where all the bookmarks are stored. You never know with Ad-Ons, what they can do with the browser being tweaked to a different version.

There is MozBackup to save your FireFox profile. It's great when you have different machines, so you can just backup a profile and then install that profile onto another machine.
