  1. A 7000 model? Hughes got people with the 6000, probably another ploy to increase the heartache of long-suffering dway users. When you don't think they can go any lower, they offer something even worse. I thank god I still have the 4000 and I'll be saying goodbye to dway if it ever breaks down.

  2. Leaving DSL for Dway,,,may I be the first to say I'm sorry for your loss...

Welcome to the world of Dway.

On the other hand if you can get the dish activated (and I do wish you the best of luck with that) it could be worse,,,,whatever you do, don't downgrade to the upgrades offered by hughes.  I'm happy with my DW400 and thank the heavens above I didn't immediately go for the slick marketing of the DW600.

As far as the other questions, whenever you network with satellite, the connection will be slowed.  If you go to broadband reports, they have a whole faq on networking with direcway.

  3. Has anyone ever had their Dway connection disappear?  Today my connection just went bye-bye.  No warning, no new software installation, just browsing and poof!  I had to reinstall the software and couldn't even get connected for web registration.  After the comp rebooted it detected the usb satellite connection, but still wouldn't connect for web registration until I went in and manually put in the address. After I did that I finally got connected but was only running at about 200 Kbps.  Did a regedit and found 4 usb satellite connections, 2 of which were dway and I only installed the software twice today since reformatting my HD a few months ago. I deleted the other three connections and put the tweaks back in  Had to tweak the registry  manually too, to get back up to speed but finally got it up and running decently again.  Has anyone else had this happen?

  6. Ah, the continuing saga of battles with Dway customer service. I have to hand it to you, sticking in there with speeds like that. I have been having troubles with speed as well and I've been tweaking for the past couple of days, now it seems to be getting a little bit better. If you're looking for faster browsing, Firefox is the browser that I have found to work the best with Direcway. The Mozilla browser I downloaded on Hughes site is of course much better than IE, but firefox is even faster. Broadband Reports and Digital Insurrection both have great tweaks for Direcway, and on DI, there are tweaks for networking with Dway which may help. There is no way that you should be getting those speeds unless your being FAP'ed, but I can understand the frustration of dealing with customer service. I would definately report your whole experience to the BBB, in your case it seems that they haven't lived up to the guaranteed speed. New to the board, so I don't know if it's acceptable to post links, so you can IM me on yahoo under sainted_serenity and I'll send you the links to tweaks you may not have tried.
