  1. Yeah, I know how to check the company's bandwidth page, but I was just looking for a program that can instantly show how much I consumed with a wireless connection.
  2. I have satelite internet, and have to keep a close watch over my bandwidth consumption because of the imposed Fair Access Policy crap the ISPs force on you. The bandwidth tool I'm using now works fine, but it doesn't monitor bandwidth used when I use my wirelessly connected Playstion 3 to game online. I don't game online too often, but I would like to know if there's a tool or program that monitors wireless bandwidth consumption? Or is there a certain way I need to set up my router?
  3. Okay, I downloaded Spyware Terminator and rebooted into Safe Mode, that got the job done. Thank you both for the help.
  4. It's a Malware virus called "Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.ofw" and it's infecting a file named "wow0524.0ll". I've tried everything to try and get rid of this file. My CPU won't let me delete it because it's supposedly an important file and my "access is denied". I tried to disinfect it, quarantine it, move it to another location, nothing works. I then went to my virus protection software (F-Secure) website and downloaded an anti-virus program for specifically disinfect/delete the file, and that still didn't work. I don't know what else to do. Honestly, the infected file isn't slowing down my computer or affecting the performance of any of my programs, but F-Secure is constantly reminding me with an annoying pop-up message about how the same file is infected, and it's driving me nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I'll try uploadingit.com and see how that goes.
  6. Alright, I've been using this site called Xdrive.com to backup my files, but that site's performance has been steadily turning to crap. Uploads getting interrupted, consistently slow uploads, etc. So, I tried out some other sites, and they're pretty much the same thing: unreliable, crappy interface, and an all around waste of time. The funny thing is, the files that I upload are no larger than 10MB apiece, so I don't understand what the problem is. Can anyone steer me in the right direction of a reliable file-storage site?
  7. I have Wildblue satellite internet service, and recently, my modem has been reseting at least one or more times a day. Just as I'm typing this post, it reset again. Every time this happens, a little message pops up and says "a network cable is unplugged" when, clearly, everything is hooked up right. I don't understand it. I've tried unplugging the cables and plugging them back in to manually reset the modem and get it to go through the registering process. While that does work, it still doesn't stop the random reseting that I have to put up with. Even worse, sometimes the modem will take hours to go through the registering process, with the second light from the top blinking only once every five seconds or so. Does anyone else have this kind of problem with Wildblue modems?
  8. I finally figured out how to delete the files off of my computer. I used WinRAR, a downloadable file archiver program. Once you open it, it will list all the files you have in you documents folders, and allow you to delete any of them without the hassle.
  9. I have been trying to delete a few files off of my computer, but every time I try, I get this error message that says "cannot delete file. It is being used by another person or program. Please close any programs that might be using this file and try again." I'm stumped. I tried moving the files to another location, renaming them. Nothing works. I don't have any other programs that are running when I attempt to delete the files, so I don't understand the error message.
  10. Lately, my computer's percentage of usage always jumps up to 100% whenever I play video games on it via emulation. The thing is, it never used to do that before until just a couple days ago. Is there any way I can fix this problem? Also, when my CPU is at 100% for maybe five to seven minutes, the hard drive's internal fan kicks in. My friend told me that prolonged use of the hard drive (when the fan is running) can damage the drive. Is this true?
  11. What's Wildblue's (the internet service provider) FAP limit as of present? I've been downloading a lot of big files, and I want to make sure I don't go over the limit and get my connection speed all messed up. Any answers would be appreciated.
  12. Are these "high ping times" the reason why my Wildblue internet service has been so crappy for the last week?
  13. Thank you. Hopefully that will help.
  14. Yeah, I have satellite DSL. Sorry about that.
  15. Lately, I've been having some serious trouble with my internet being slow, and I mean SLOW. This happens all the time to me, and it's working my last nerve. I'm thoroughly convinced that my ISP, Wildblue, is the epitome of suck. My regular DSL speed is supposed to have a download speed of a little over 50 kB/s, and a pretty fast upload speed as well. Now, I know that's not as fast as some other folks' internet speeds around this site, but it's good enough for me to download music, movies, and such. Prepare to see what's probably the worst DSL connection in history. I used the Express Dual Test: :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 131 Kbps about 0.13 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 16 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 24 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Upload Speed is:: 3 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/02/01 - 6:13pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-YGUKRZWA4 U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-JAOU02F7C User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 [!] As you can see, my connection speed at the moment is only marginally faster than Dial-Up. I've called Wilblue's tech support numerous times, but they don't help much at all. I just want my internet to work like it's supposed to for once. I know I'm a n00b to these forums and there's probably many topics like this one, but if anybody can help me out, you'd have my eternal gratitude. Thanks.
