  1. Yeah, it's MUCH faster without the belkin.. Stupid router - I knew it was a piece of garbage. On that note, I'm going to be buying another router, and I'm interested which ones you've experienced that aren't crap? I don't wanna buy another POS like this one.
  2. I'm usin it - with the belkin router, you have to run the cable modem through the wireless router. I'm beginning to think it's a piece of crap.
  3. Comcast 6.0/s is what I'm payin for, hooked up through a Belkin wireless router on my laptop. This is what I get. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 100 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 12 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/07/08 - 10:25pm Bottom Line:: 2X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 85.33 sec Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 245.641 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 1.74 % of your hosts average (comcast.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-I1B3L9Z6A User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; IEMB3; IEMB3) [!] How pathetic? So pathetic. Tried TCP optimizer, no difference. I'm beginning to think it's my cheap stupid router. Have any of you ever had this kind of experience with a router before? The wireless card on my laptop works fine - had Verizon DSL, never had an issue, and I can connect to the networks at work, no problem. This, however, is ridiculous. Any help welcome.
  4. Yeah, it's faster without the router. So - I've just bought a piece of garbage router, then? Serves me right for gettin the cheaper one. I'll go get a D-Link this weekend.
  5. another note - i know it was suggested that i scan for spyware/viruses in safemode, did that, and removed the spyware with adaware. The computer's runnin better now, but the net is still slow.

  8. the speeds are VERY close to the same on both computers. Much frustration... I'll run the tests tonight and post em here for you, though.
  9. No, not using norton AV, i'm using AVG for virus. Yes, I use AIM & Yahoo messanger, though not most of the time - it's occasional. No, haven't scanned in safe mode, but I will and i'll get back to you guys.
  10. Tried all that except for CableNut, but have no clue how it works. Besides the other issues now, it seems I can't stay connected wirelessly from my laptop for more than a short time before it kicks me, saying that the network can't be found. Then I have to wait for it to be 'found' again, which takes anywhere from a few seconds to a couple hours, regardless of how many times I search for it. ALl the while, mind you, the hardlined computer is working fine. Now - my wireless card on the laptop is fine - I connect to numerous networks frequently, and none of them have any issues with speed OR connectivity. On another note, the keys and such to connect to the network are input correctly. Ideas, anyone?
  11. it says my DL speed is 159 kb/s ... haha.. i get about 20 kb/s on a download. So sad...
  12. Okay - disconnected the modem from the router and hardlined directly to the pc. this is the result :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 1303 Kbps about 1.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 159 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/05/08 - 7:58pm Bottom Line:: 23X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 6.44 sec Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 18.813 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 23.06 % of your hosts average (comcast.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-0ODAEZQCN User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 [!]
  13. ok - wouldn't let me pull it up on the wireless - but on the hardlined pc i got this - Downstream: Frequency - 567000000 Hz Locked Signal to Noise Ratio - 40 db Power Level - 2dBmV Upstream: Channel ID - 1 Frequency - 230000000 Hz Ranged Power Level - 46dBmV
  14. okay - the modem is a motorola, the router (wireless) is a belkin, and these are the ping results - Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
