    I need help!!!!

    I have had CoX out to my place a couple of times and they can't figure out why my computer is only getting about 1MB download when I am paying for the 5MB download. My upload is fine at 768KB. Is there any setting in the registry that can be changed to increase the transfer speed in downloads or increase the speed in the internet overall. I havent done any changes whatsoever to my computer. The setting are default of Windows XP Pro SP2.

    My computer is

    p4 3.0 With HT

    1.5GB PC3200 RAM

    160GB WD 8MB

    FX5900 128MB

    100 Base T

        Cox has come out twice and they give me the same answer every time.. "The line is fine and they are no problems on their End."

    My speed is completely down,,, help

    I have tested my Speed on various sites and come up with the same results are here

    Download Speed is:: 138 KB/s

    Bottom Line:: 20 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 7.42 second(s)

    The weather is getting cool.....75F........ snow birds are coming back....Turkey.....Christmas.....and faster Internet than last year 5MB vs 3MBlastyear. So to all those Pimps, Cool guys, and a particular :evil: Cable Guy :twisted: .. Let's enjoy the winter and internet with all the happiness you can muster.

    For all the others that don't want to change the Helix thingy's in their Registry, I have the simple file available to disable the 2 download limit. Just click on the EMAIL button for my profile. MICROWAVE has already the files via email.

    If you are a HELIX kinda of guy, then disregard this Post. :lol::lol:

    I have enabled the EMAIL button on my profile. If you want the File to disable the 2 download limit, I will email it to you. The file works with WIN XP home and PRO versions. It is a REGISTRY entry that disables the 2 download limit. It is stable and runs great on my computer. I have WIN XP PRO SP 2.

    P4 3.0 Ghz HT

    1.5GB RAM

    160GB HD

    6800 Ultra

    Actually the speed you are getting is very fast. Satellite is usually under 700K download, like DSL speed. You have nothing to worry about. You are actually in the same speed league as most Cable Internet Users.

    You aren't up to speed with the big boys just yet, but you're making progress. :wink::wink:
