  1. hate to bring it back from the dead guys im looking for the original win xp sp3 values for cablenut seems that since i told a buddy about cablenut he forgot to retrieve values before he backed his registry up, dunno how we overlooked that im searching as we speak but was hopin i could find some help here..
  2. ok guys, the issue was the router. being lucky enough to have two of the EXACT same models and version of our linksys wrt54g v3 we tried the second one, the OLDER of the two in fact, and with the linksys firmware i was able to hit 30mbit very easily, upon installing dd-wrt to the router we immediantly experienced the same speed issues, it would not climb above 2mbit here at testmy and and on the 4mb test it would stutter thru as the download was happening sometimes stalling for up to two or more seconds at some point. we have now settled on tomato firmware. the QoS however is still a pain in the ass and not functioning properly however we've just decided that we will remote access on to each other's p2p client to throttle it manually when we need to. this tho teaches me a HUUUGE LESSON, guys you need to check your router first and often, we lose 3 megabit off the rip with the "good working" router, the bad one is nearly 15mbit loss on linksys firmware. thats fucking insane. good luck guys
  3. still using that file as well..the issue is linksys and dd-wrt and QoS, we may revert back to the linksys firmware and figure out better ways to throttle the p2p in the house hold but as of now with NO QoS with the router and dd-wrt the highest i could get on any speedtest other than here was 10mbit, testmy.net was down to 4.5mbit i posted above my most current speedtest and that is without the router plugged up
  4. coknuck i am still using your previous file perhaps an update for my new speeds? as for the signal issues at our house we have gotton those resolved and think we are in good working order, also the culprit for my lousy speed as of the past few weeks has been dd-wrt on my linksys router. ive read in a million places that dd-wrt was one of the best so i decided to try it out. after unplugging and going straight into the pc from the modem my speeds were back up to where they should be :evil6: :evil6: if the router is plugged up the best i could get out of testmy.net was 3-5mbit on the 4meg test it had a lot of hiccups while downloading..as where when im not using the router with dd-wrt the results are obvious, we have two linksys routers in the home, so more testing will have to be done...so far the culprit is dd-wrt on the router..or perhaps the router itself.
  5. ok guys this is a horribly old thread but once again i got such great help and have run into another issue. ive moved once again and am on comcast 8mbit down 784up plan, heres my question i know comcast has their "speedboost" which will boost your upstream and downstream for the first 10-15 megs of whatever you are downloading ive gotten as high as 30mbit on the express test and up to 2mbit upstream as well. but then it will eventually come back down to around 10mbit or so for the downstream and the upstream will always sit at right below 1mbit. are there better cablenut settings that i should be using?..i believe ive been using the ar0nic1.css that coknuck posted for me and have also tried my original backup. btw tonite on testmy.net the highest i can acheive is 4.5mbit down i dunno if that is due to crazy traffic tonite or what but ive always tested the highest here...speakeasy and speedtest both hit 20mbit down but thats during the comcast "speedboost" surge. any suggestions?! btw a few other things to note and inquire on. ive recently got another roomie who is an avid gamer and we were running into issues with our linksys router, after flashing to dd-wrt and playing around with QoS we have gotten better results but were still toying with it as were still not 100%...any suggestions with QoS? we have generally everything priority over utorrent (http set to premium, both of our torrent ports set to bulk) i think weve got that under control at this point but any suggestions would be great! also, we have added a hdtv box and was experiencing issues while recording and watching HD.. after putting both the modem and hdtv box on its own line via a 3way splitter straight from the tap with the 3rd open port we went to a 2 way for the other two rooms..so far the hdtv problem is fixed but not sure if its affected the modem. cant exactly call comcast as i dont own the box so all wiring and rewiring and checking signals is being done by me as we do not wish a tech at the house. could this be affecting anything, is anyone familiar with qam and rf levelsfrequencies and may be able to chime in. after rewiring and switching around splitters the HD box is now working properly but im wondering if ive affected my modem signal at all you guys are great here and im super appreciative of all you've done and im sure ill get more help! i eagerly await it!

  8. ok guys so after stumbling upon these great forums and reading some of the advertised speeds by ISPS and what people were actually getting i realized, a. what my advert. speeds from time warner cable with RR hi-speed WERE, (5mbit down 384 up) and b. i wasnt getting no more than 2mbit on a good day well i was pissed! after more than a week off haggling i get them out here to completely redo all wiring from the tap to the house, and changed out my modem and various splitters as well as upping my plan to the 8mbit down 512 up...i was able to get close to 5mbit from just about every speedtest excluding roadrunners where i consitently hit 8mbit. today i finally got a chance to play with vanburens cablenut settings. When i originally d/l the program i picked what i thought would be a good point to start in version 9 i used the cable & dsl 512 setting..i noticed a small increase and never had a chance to play with again.. today i wiped the CS settings out of the registry and did a speed test from the original reg settings. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 3227 Kbps about 3.2 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 394 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/05/28 - 11:55am Bottom Line:: 56X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 2.6 sec Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 7.594 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 68.47 % of your hosts average (rr.com) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-A7RNOZGBQ User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) [!] feeling a little mythed i looked thru more forums and so forth then just for shits picked this file coheem 8000/1000 in the mss1460 directory in v3 here are those results: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 7793 Kbps about 7.8 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 951 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/05/28 - 12:15pm Bottom Line:: 136X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 1.08 sec Tested from a 12160 kB file and took 12.782 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 65.35 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-2YH6RW7M3 User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) [!] :evil6: :evil6: :evil6: :evil6: :evil6: :evil6: :evil6: so after thinking maybe dumb luck i procced to test on every speedtest site i know of and the results are consistent. any thoughts on other settings i should try..i dont know alot about what each setting what it changes means but i figured this was the closest to my rated cap from so i tried.....thanks for all the helpful posts and sorry about the long read!
