Exactly the same routes, except the ThePlanet router on hop 20 testmy.net has compared to mine using a ServerMatrix router on hop 20, that's about it... It's got me stuffed as to why you'd see such a big differance in speed :-s.
-
due to traffic my speed usally is like this against testmy.net this time a day
strange thing is that your servers is in same datacenter and see the diff in speed

Traceroute to both testmy.net and matrixau.net and let's see the why .
-
hehe i didnt notice that
my bad
Haha, oops .
-
Wow! I just did some configs CA3LE recommended, and stunning resualts, I manger to max my connection easy to my server now at 1.19 MB/s and I'm in Australia! .
Try now everyone! . lol.
-
PM CA3LE and he can give you some TCP tweaks for Linux
VanBuren
Done, thakns. .
-
It seems like the mirrors have a differant method of testing compared to the normal testmy.net server. I somehow get 600 KB/s test from the testmy.net server, which I don't think is really possible for a single download thread to an international server (I've never seen that), but to every single other mirror only about 300 KB/s (Including my own).
If I do tests locally on servers in Sydney, Australia I get 1100 KB/s, my connection is 1.2 MB/s.
-
hey ShaneAu
what OS are you running on your server?
Servers TCP settings need to be tweaked aswell

that information came from the ministor for education. as for lowering the prices, is bigpond didnt have their own parralell system as for telstra wholesale and bigpond bought their bandwidth for the same price as the other telstra wholesale customers then there is no issue but no, they have to constantly partake in unfair trading. irregardless telstra is dead, ISP"s are putting in their own DSLAMS upto 12mbit, and becoming tier2 (their own international link) so it does not matter, oh btw it wasnt capped this month its been capped for a while, infact the last year, when my friend signed up for cable then.
Lol, Hard cap was introduced in NSW, this month, and a few other states the month before, before that you could download over 80 GB and still be uncapped.
Other ISP's are bringing in their own DSLAM's, yes. But are you able to get onto one like you can a Telstra DSLAM? Nope. Telstra has also announced that it will be upgrading it's DSLAM network to support ADSL2 & ADSL2+ technology.
Still as for Telstra being sold, it's not going to happen... Why would they? .
- Shane.
-
i got some asian ISPs..idk if they are there or not but i remember looking before and they werent
usen.ad.jp
ocn.ne.jp
mesh.ad.jp
hananet.net
ffes.co.jp
kornet.net
thats all i can think of right now..
Umm. you're at the Australian Providers section... lol. Why post asian ISP's?
-
dude, i dont know where ya been but telstra is being sold, they are looking into selling it and privatising the telco, its what needs to happen to deregulate the stupid cost of bandwidth in australia. hell its stupid the price here. also shaneau whats ur cap eh? telstra dont have an unlimited plans
not to mention that telstra is constantly in trouble with the ACCC and their techies didnt even know what SDSL was when i rang them. i wouldnt be caught dead with their service. i hope it all gets sold. i would love the de-regulation of bandwidht in australia, i say take new zealands approach
Lol, Telstra isn't being sold... Where did you get that source of information? I think Telstra Wholesale will be sold and not owned by Telstra, but that's not even happening yet I don't think.
As for my cap, yes 10 GB, unfortuante, It's only been non Unlimited as of this month and on, but I'm sure new plans will be released.
Now you see, Telstra cannot bring out amazing plans because the wholesale customers will complain that's it's not fair, and if Telstra do decide to bring out better plans they have to lower wholesale prices aswell, otherwise the ACCC will be onto them for unfair trading, Bigpond can provide good plans for it's customers but obviousely will not lower the prices for wholesale customers because it will cost them too much, this is why the two (Telstra and Telstra Wholesale) should be two differant things, not owned by the one company, Telstra.
Now you see what I mean? .
- Shane.

Test run on 28/3/2005 @ 4:52 P.M.
Mirror: Optus
Test type: Cable
Your connection speed:

From a local server.
That is from my Bigpond Cable connection again.

How about now? (Re-test), I'm trying a few tweaks to improve speeds on Apache.
-
I clicked on youe 20meg file and it sent me to the 7meg files and here are my results.
Oh really.. . hehe, CA3LE better have a look .

Hey peoples, can I get a few people to test the newest mirror to testmy.net - https://testmy.net/o-mirror-ShaneAU. I just want to see what kind of speeds people can archive there, it has the potential to max out probably 99.9% of people's connections.
https://testmy.net/o-mirror-ShaneAU, show your results here .
Thanks!
- Shane.

but are u on cable? or an ADSL2 service, not all of us are on exchanges where ADSL2 is available. my exchange wont even be enabled for adsl2 this year, so ive got a wait, hopefully tel$Tra gets sold soon
haha Telstra gets sold? Unlikly.
I'm with Bigpond Cable. It's actually 1.19 MB/s to local mirrors . Now you tell me in this fourm how many people can get that kind of speed for ~ 45 USD per month.

Do yet get faster upload speeds elsewhere?
