  1. actually do have it plugged into a surge protector. If it gives me any more trouble I'll plug it in to the wall! I didn't know about the limits. I never use my dishmail but I guess I should start. My computer is always on and my kids are always on the other one playing games so I bet I do go over.

  3. Oh I see, It's from the cell phone carriers. No, The only 2 around here that have it are Nextel/Sprint and Verizon and I called them both months ago. They told me that I could get it but the towers were not very close so it would be probably no faster than dial up. As of now my cell phone (Nextel) gets a crappy signal here so I can hardly use it from home. Verizon is a little better but my family all has Nextel so to save $$ I switched to Nextel.
  4. What is that?? I will look it up but so far I have never seen anything like that here.
  5. Yeah, Nothing is available. They are putting a WiFi service in but they said that a year ago and I had called them to ask if I could get it. They tested and had no signal at my house.
  6. I know exactly what you mean. I almost got Hughes Net but then i saw the price difference and Wildblue was much less expensive. Guess now I know why.
  7. They are sending a new modem so we will see if that helps...
  8. It has been doing it since the day they installed it. When Wildblue has trouble on their end the second light on my modem either goes off or blinks so I know it's them but most of the time the lights stay on and I still can't connect. If call them they tell me that it shows that I am connected. Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. 9. Siryak, how do I reset the modem?? Isn't it reset when you unplug it? I unplugged it overnight last night and it took me 3 hours to connect this morning. I canceled the Vonage and am keeping the home phone. My internet is still lagging really bad though. I've had Wildblue (through Dish Network)since April and it's given me trouble ever since day one. I had them out 2 days ago and they moved my dish because they thought my TV dish was blocking my signal and I thought that would fix it. I called them and they won't come out again unless I pay them $59. The modem shows I am connected but half the time I get error messages while trying to load web pages. Sometimes I think I was better off with dial-up. When I called to cancel the Vonage they told me that they thought I might have a bad modem but so far I've had no luck getting Wildblue (Dish Network) to fix it.
  10. Also wanted to mention when I ran the test I was using my AOL browser. It's what I had before the Wildblue was hooked up. I still use AOL's browser on occasion. Internet explorer was being slow.... I also use Firefox sometimes. Here are the results with Wildblue using Firefox ... ::::::::::.. Of course, I wasn't sure what to do with it so that didn't help. I am running Windows XP. My PC was new in January and it has no viruses or spyware. I use Norton to check it regularly and I also run Spybot S&D AND Ad-Aware almost daily. I am starting to wonder whether or not my wildblue was actually upgraded because it doesn't seem that way. I upgraded in hopes of hooking up Vonage but so far I have not been able to successfully call anyone. I can hear them but they can't hear me. I am hoping there is something I can do to tweak it and make it faster. Can you help me?
