Hello again,
I was wondering how do you find out out if your NIC is running at half or full duplex?
(I use Windows XP, and my network card is Intel PRO 100/VE)
But I cant seem to find what duplex its running at.
Lol.....the router I had completely crapped after I made that post and I bought a new one. (It was a couple of years old, and it was model called Pine)
I bought a Linksys Etherfast one, and then internet works great now!
So I did the tweaking (using Cablenut) and I applied the patch to change the windows SP2 setting of 10 open connections to 100.
The tweaking and patch worked great!
Here are the results after tweaking:
Down: 10444 kB/s
Up: 612 kB/s
Ping: 33
But after I plugged the modem back in to the router it slowed it down A LOT!
Down: 1051 kB/s
Up: 144 kB/s
Ping: 49
Its not a wireless router. I'm using Windows XP Media Center edition. Its cable broadband net connection.
Is there something I can do to stop the router from slowing down the speed at all? I've tried restarting it, the modem and the computer and nothing changes. I remove the router and the speed shoots back up like crazy.
Whats going on here?
