i have a radeon x300 128mb and thats still plenty to run most games at best quality, maybe the most graphical games at a lower quality to keep the frame rate up

It was in a post on the (car) forums of how quickly the shocks on the corissica's (sp?) went out. Hes not the first (and most likly not the last ) to do that. With flimsy shocks you dont need "torque" , just negative weight in the direction of the shocks. and engines dont, turn......._o

not to mention almost all the weight is in the front of the car.  Its much harder to do with a rear wheel drive car--that takes American Muscle like a nice V8, not a hopped up 4 banger import (not that i dont like imports, i just like American cars better)

i believe we can come to the conclusion that the computer has a LOT to do with it.  i believe everyone who has complained about slow speed with the progress bar has a CPU near or below 1GHz.  My P4 HT @ 3.0 GHz peaked at 29% usage once during the test.  Most of the time it was between 10-15%.  On my old P3 @ 800MHz it peaked at 63%, stayed 48-55%.  Note- this is with the new progress bar, so CA3LE did significantly lower the load on the processor during the test.  Good job CA3LE! although i wish you could have kept the bar the way you had it with all the info.  Oh well

You are getting better scores even on your upload since yesterday... I made no changes to the upload test.... your connection just get better.

I pay no attention to the upload, it jumps like crazy and isnt related to my download speed most of the time.  My CPU is Intel P4 HT @ 3.0GHz, maybe why the progress bar didnt affect me?  I was at my cousins house this evening.  He has comcast, and the progress bar majorly lowered his speed(that was before you changed it CA3LE), but his computer is quite slow also.

i like Starband's bandwidth policies, but they are fairly specific to say you cant hook it up to a network.  Oh well, direcway says something similar and i have 4 computers hooked up to it.

could you possibly have three versions of the download test?  1 with the new progress bar, 1 with the old progress bar, and 1 with no progress bar?  I like the new progress bar a lot and it doesnt affect my tests, but i have noticed other users having problems with it

Hmm, thats strange.  My download speed is as good as ever, and I think this is the highest upload speed ive ever gotten (still crappy though)
