Before you buy make sure your ISP charges for them...if not, get theirs...that way if it gets damaged or goes bad...they pay for it.  Most cable co's do not charge for modems any more...and you will have no speed or reliabiliy advantage to owning your own.

I haven't tried it, but I can tell you 96kbps is nowhere near cd-quality... cd quality is somewhere around 1441kbps (i forget the exact number)
