  3. Yeah, they just love picking on good TV's. Hey, they were good while they lasted.  [geek]

Yea the hdtv crt's were actually quite good.  I was poking fun of the 4:3 non hd crt's.  Black bars on them usually take up most of the screen.  My friend had a hd crt tv and i actually liked the picture on it better than the lcd and plasma tv's that are out now.  The hd broadcasts had more pop to them.  Also there was no motion blur like you see in some of the lcd's.  To bad they couldn't have made a hdtv crt bigger than 34 inches without it being the size of a truck. lol  :grin2:

Back on subject i was reading more about the blu-ray movies and basically if it's 1:85:1 aspect ratio it should fill up the screen.  Otherwise you will have black bars.

  4. What are the aspect ratio of the movies.  If it's 1:85:1 then yes it should cover nearly the whole screen.  If it's something like 2:35:1 then you will have a little bit of black area on the top and bottom of the movie.  This is normal.  I have a hdtv and a ps3 and my movies are like this too.  Just be glad you don't have a old analog crt where the black bars take up over half the screen.  :grin2:

  8. i'v been told by a friend the upgade is now complete.   :grin2:  He has roadrunner standard and was getting about 7mb download.  I have already put in an order for installation.  I'm coming from at&t dsl so this is going to be a good bit faster.  It's good to see time warner on the ball here.   The area was a former adelphia area and the internet speeds weren't very good, so this is a very welcome upgrade.   plus for 10 bucks more a month i could have 15mb speeds.    :grin2:

This is at&t pro package.  My cable is upgrading in my area so my speed may soon be dramatically faster!!!!! :grin2:

  10. I'm located in southeastern ohio.  I'v had roadrunner a while back.  The speed would go up to about 1.5mb download.  I was told they were just using t-1's to serve the area.  I'v been told they now have in place and are testing a whole new circuit.  So the speed should increase dramatically.  Hopefully the standard roadrunner will go up to 7mb instead of the 1.5 mb it used to get.  This is for the rural southeastern ohio area along the ohio river in the new matamoras, sardis and hannibal ohio area.  I'm excited because of the higher speeds. Right now i'm limited to 2.5mb download speed due to the dsl distance issues.  So if this pans out looks like i'll probably switch back to the cable internet for the higher speeds.

This is at&t dsl pro package.  One of my other options for internet is time warner maybe i'll switch to them since their upgrading my area hopefully.

  12. Well they might try to tell you that but i still say that is not right.  Your line stats are actually a good bit better than mine are and i am connected at the full speed on pro package.  I still say if the phone option gets you no where to post in at&t direct forum over at dslreports.com  They handle this kind of stuff and work for at&t.  I was technically too far out to get pro but they seen my line could handle pro speeds so they let me get it.  What they can do is a test on your line to see if in fact your line can handle the pro speeds which i'm sure it can based on your line stats.  That site is still down though so i don't know what is going on.  Good luck.

  13. yes your connection rate should be at 3008 download and 512 upload.  Try calling them up and just simply ask them to raise your connection rate to 3008 download.  I know they can do that cause i'v done it before.  Be persistent cause technically the pro package is between 1.5-3.0mb and you are within spec for pro package but your line stats indicate your line should support the 3008 connection rate.  If by chance that doesn't work try the dslreports.com website i told you about earlier.

  14. there is a site called broadband reports.  It has a at&t direct forum in it.   Its  www.dslreports.com  All you have to do is register on the site (it's free) then post in that forum.  Tell them what your issues are and they will help you.  They actually work for at&t.  It usually takes a couple of days for them to get back to you however.   Well that site is down now for some reason, i'm sure it will be back up soon.  Good luck.  Oh also i just seen your latest post.  You should have no problem running full speed.  Your stats are better than mine are and i'm synced at 3008 by 512.

  15. what is your current sync rate at?  If you go to 192.168.0.1 it will tell you that information.  Also sometimes when people are upgraded from express to pro they go through a rampup process.  So it could be that your sync is lower and that could explain the slower speeds.  If it's been 10 days and your sync rate is still slower you should call them and just have them adjust it for you.  I have the pro package myself.  After overhead you can expect to see about 2.5Mb download.  Good luck.

  16. Here is my download stats for pro.  I just ran a test.  This is what you should expect for the pro package.
