ok now i just need to figure out the reason it just drops connection, its very annoying especially when gaming
-
im paying 45 dollars a month, when i first signed up i was paying alot less, also ive been wanting to change from qwest and go with someone else, still DSL.
-
as far as link i guess i fat fingered something here it is http://www.qwest.com/residential/internet/index.html
-
Yeah ive been wanting to test out another modem, i just need to track one down. yes i did turn off the modem for i would say about 3 min maybe less than that. remembering back, i have tried to upgrade the firmware before and what i have to do is re-run the "first time installation" disk that came with quest.
-
well it really doesnt say much just that it is "upto 256kbps download " here is the link to the page [url=http://http://www.qwest.com/residential/internet/index.html I have the "Fast". last night i thought i would upgrade the firmware on my modem, the modem i have (actiontec gt704-wg) didnt come from qwest, so i download the new firmware from actiontec, went through the upgrade but now the modem powers on the dsl light will blink along with the power light then both will go to solid green, no internet light, and i can't connect to the modem by typing in the IP Which brings me to another problem I have been having. The internet will be fine but then all of a sudden it will just drop the signal, the internet light will just shut off, and the dsl light will blink, then the internet light will turn red then go green, I have called Qwest but all they said was that it was my modem, and that my line test were great.

so i deceided to boot up linux and see what speeds i got. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 1170 Kbps about 1.2 Mbps (tested with 1013 kB) Download Speed is:: 143 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2007/10/28 - 10:56pm Bottom Line:: 20X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 7.16 sec Tested from a 1013 kB file and took 7.093 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 40.63 % of your hosts average (qwest.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-SUMY83IZP User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20061201 Firefox/2.0.0.6 (Ubuntu-feisty) [!] so im guessing it is something with the modem, my lines, or the service
