  1. Hello, can anyone advise me. I have just followed the simple instillation steps and connected my new wireless router that I bought from Dell. I followed the on screen instructions BUT when I try to connect to the internet an error message states: Modem busy or not connected properly. DELL do not provide help at weekends, if anyone can advise I would be eternally grateful. Thanks

  2. agree... happy now .... when cox is working ,,its nice,,,though i wish we had the speed of the asian countrys,,,50mg/s... cox had up to 12mb/s... but still a far ways off..not sure why the government has not looked into this......why must we be a third world in internet access.??

  3. well, its finally running great, after 3 techs.... they did some tweaking, but i actually think cox was working on something in the area

  4. well,,it got worse the next day....just don,t get it ..on and off as for working properly and intermitent connections

so i made another appointment,,,the Cox tech was out today, supervisor, tuesday.. someone wired something wrong outside, then he said i did not need a amplifier inside the apartment to my modem,,he said there was such thing as over-amplifying. then he checked the signal/noise on my modem..low. i think it was 28... so he did some things, ,,the modem i have is new bought from wallmart last month , motorola 5101,, and so i got my old one out, and it was acceptable noise/ signal... he checked my speed after all this...it was very slow and he rescheduled an appointment for friday... they should come right out the next day i was thinking.. anyhow,, after he left, my tv and internet went dead twice momentarly and cam on again..   ... now my interent works great....why was it slow when he was here, and fast an hour later...sometimes i think Cox is making repairs...and not telling the customer.

  5. well, i started having connection problems again... and i bypassed my netgear wpn 824 router,,and now everything is running great... it looks like my router was part of the problem .... this is a new router,,but i have read many threads of lost connections,,,and it looks like mine is doing it... possibly after running for a few hours,,,, then things begin to happen...

  6. i had cox cable out today again , and he stated my modem readings were not good..he also installed a splitter that amplified the signal ...here is my modem power readyings

    Frequency 573000000 Hz

Signal To Noise Ratio 33.9 dB

    Power Level 4.8 dBmV

The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading

the downstream power level was 13 when cox arrived,,, and not its 4.8... he said it was suppose to be under 10....what is the power level reading supose to be at?????

  13. that may be,,,but i have never had this slow,,even at night...i have allways being humming around 5mg/s....all times of the day...last night it was down to 125Kbps...twice as fast as a 56k mode,, and it even disconnected...no online light,,it was blinking.....i would take 20 seconds to load a web page.....

right now it takes 20 seonds to load this page after responding, my download speed is 325 kbps,,,i can just as well go with a 56k modem provider

  14. hi

i have Cox cable, and just recently,,,my download speeds during the evning and later at night, am hours...come to a crawl....right now i have 982 Kbps download speed...and i should be getting 5mg/s.....during the day,,its around 5mg/s...i just don,t get it....what the heck does the night time have to do with my speeds????  so getting 5mg/s ,,, during the day tells me the equipment if functioning ok,,,, i have bought a new modem,,,motorola sb5101,,, and that was not the problem,,i have by-passed the splitter,,that is not the problem,,because it does nothing by doing this..have connected directly into the computer from the modem,,by-passing my router,,still not difference...it seems my hardware is ok,,,as i said,,5mg/s during the day hours, but bad during the evening....Cox came last week,,, said he upped the power outside, and then came in and checked my modem readings last week,,he said they were normal.....the problem with Cox is that they are not around during the night time when i have the problem....anyone have thought on this problem???? Cox is coming back out on dec 5, wed.

what url address do i need to check the my modem readings.
