I usually test at 6MB, simply because it's a more accurate display of the performance I get, because most of my downloads are small. But here is an average speed for a 130MB download (and another user on the network was downloading a Windows Update (~50MB):

A good lesson in life is that any corporation has to be successful to offer a GOOD product. I'd hate to see Charter come under government control as a reward for being unsuccessful. Obama cable company overhaul with speeds up to and including .00001 Mbps... 

I dont know about going broke though. They have pretty nice corporate earnings. They could even out the pay some, it would help. Keep the tech support local for crying out loud.

I gave up my dsl and directway for Charter long ago.. I have no problems with Charter..

$69 bucks a month 

Haven't done one in awhile but charter is not as crappy as normal..

Pssssst, just got back from the post office....

I've got a real problem with DW now. My computer was wireless and DW was plugged into the ethernet so I could toggle back and forth. With all this darn speed I had to go ethernet to router and than to cable modem. What to do.. I might just go postal...

This is the fastest upload since I had the 7000 on beta at 600 up.. I getting about 950 kb..

Not as long as I bring my own seatbelt.  But it would take me a week to get out of withdrawal symptoms, at least! 

Charter just turned me up to 10 meg tonight. WOW! I put the main CPU back on hard wire Ethernet instead of wireless because the wireless wasn't keeping up.

Getting anywhere from 8 to 10 meg down and 980 kb up... Hard to take... If I blink my eyes I don't see the screen refresh and think it's still the same window. 

I'm trying a little faster Charter service that just got into town....

One question - Where do I find the info to educate myself and work towards getting the speeds this forum group is achieving? I have a DW7000 with a Linksys G router also.

My DW7000 most of the time will only give me about 800 down and 100 up. We each usually have a different transponder, some are crowded so speeds will be very different depending on the transponder.

When I was doing beta testing with the same 7000 modem and dish I could get 2000 down and 600 up day and night. But that was uncapped and with a beta uncrowded transponder..

You guys are brave venturing into satellite. 

When you are paying 80 bucks a month for a dialup connection like I was it's not brave but just practical..

ghostmaster says my speeds have something to do with the transponder or something like that.  I figure I will not gripe as long as it stays like it is. 

Shhhhhh, someone at NOC might be watching and load up your transponder with new accounts.. Seriously, those are darn good for consumer.

778 is pretty slow slower.  Even for hughes. 

Yep I agree.. But at 5 am today I lost cable for about an hour..   Hughes looked like an oasis to me at the time..
