Has anyone taken up Comcast on their new offer of $10 per month (no contract still) to increase to 6Mbps download (from the low-mid 3's that we now get)?

welcome to the forum ostensor, yes, what u said is true, they keep on downgrading my service for some reason, when I complain they bring my speed back up.  They all know that they are feeding their custemors bunch of bs.

welcome to the forum. If its not even lettiing u reformat your disk it could be that your hard drive is fried, sometimes when u buy a new computer something miht be wrong with the hard drive. Give a little bit more info, what does it say when u try to start the computer up?

truth is mate aol suks, despite this try tweaking ur systems mtu mss rwin etc with the suggestions these guys have stuff really works unles the aol guy is reseting everything lol

aol is a big scam, im suprised they dont have thier own operating system yet,

lol, , I agree with you.  I used to have aol dial-up for one month before I got cable.  When I cancelled the aol service, they kept on telling me to stay as custemor, I said I'd pass, and a month later they call me again and offer me 3 months free to join aol again, I refused and told them to stop calling me, and told them I already had a internet service provider,

used the patch and the things still going at 30kbs, any suggestions?

whats amplified? i might need that. i got the 6000/768 plan. download i get around 3000 to 4500 and upload is very good getting around 730 to 750

I have no clue what that is, I guess they just clear up your lines so u get a better signal, but all I know is they changed something in my lines outside my house.

Oddly enough, our uploads are faster than the Comcast average, almost 400Kbps.

Welcome to the forum vought.  When the tech comes over, tell him to do a test off a website, and he will see that your connection is slow.

Very nice speeds there. I have Comcast, and the highest I get is 6.3Mbps sometimes, and I do have the 6000/768 package. How do u get your speeds that high?

I would have to go with the Pistons too.

Besides ever growing "Basic cable" I've never had any pricing problems with Comcast.

When you looked at your bill, did it say what the $50 charge was for?

I've heard some people get charged a $3.00 modem rental fee even though they own the modem. They just called Comcast and got the charges taken off.

Also did you wait until the next bill came? Because sometimes it can take one or even 2 billing cycles for charges to be reversed.

When I looked at the bill it said I had to pay for installation (but I installed everything with the free self-install kit). They have told me many times that they are going to change my bill, but they never do.

The thing is whenever they tell me they are going to take off the charges, a week passes by and they still dont do it.

you dont have to upgrade your speed at all, Vonage only uses 90kbs of your of your internet speed, but the custemor service is very bad, u wont understand a thing they say, because everyone that works there is arabian or something. I was thinkung about getting Vonage, but didnt get too far. The same lady kept on picking up the phone everytime I called, and I couldnt really understand her. So I said fuck it.
