  1. At least WIRELESS broadband is pretty consistent . . . .

  2. TOLD YA!  And wait til day 32-33......it will get even worse ! ! !

Well it looks as though hughes cant get it right, after upgrading from the Ku system for big time slow downs in the peak hours.......guess what. Thats right the Ka system gives me 1600/225 all day long around 7pm takes a dump! My download speed during peak hours is at times below 200k....now the upload stays good at 200+ go figure. Back to square one on this issue as basically with below 200 download speed and web response time over 20 secs.....useless to me during evening hours and seems to me the Ku system was better at this point in the game.

  3. the only way you can get paper billing back is to have THREE declined credit card attempts.

They'll put you on paper billing and charge you $5.00 extra a month.

At that's what happened to me.  The declined credit card attempts were after all the issues I had with them, and I changed the #.

I had the choice of snail mail 2 or 3 years back when I was with them. If I was still with them I would still pay that way. I like to see my bills and money go through my hands. Old fashioned that way I guess. Or maybe a control thing.

  4. I currently have a $206.38 dispute with Hughes and Mastercard.  I disputed my last month of service (the one where my speeds went from 1.5mpbs to 400kbps... This was day 33.  I also disputed their installation charge since I cancelled it just right after. ECC didn't want to hear me complaining anymore.......

In Hughesnet's rebuttal to the dispute, all they send back was a bunch of invoices, emails, and phone calls I'd made.  That didn't prove anything.  IN FACT, it made Hughes look bad!  I was told by the bank with all the documentation I'd submitted, I wouldn't have to pay it, but it had to be finialized.

Thank goodness, I put a block on that card and got a new #.  No teling what Hughes would have tried to charge on there by now.

I got a credit card linked to the account.....at least a person could dispute a charge? Had a gut feeling that would happen.

  5. FIKESTER, did you just get your HN9000 Upgrade installed TODAY?

Yes, trust me I will be checking and posting speeds.....still on the pro plan but will be upgrading to the plus soon. But for now looks good to me? Its 408pm here:

  7. I been looking for this data to post, but it was offline on another hard drive.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had this same series of events occur on TWO Hughesnet Accounts. This is the SECOND ACCOUNT. DSS825XXXX.

After signing up for this SECOND account upon the recommendation of Hughes ECC (They could NOT figure what was wrong with the FIRST system). As I will post the previous results of the FIRST system next...

This just goes to show you that HUGHESNET offers you PERFECT speeds for the FIRST 30 days when you are a new user of the system. Speeds were close to the advertised speeds of the PRO PLUS plan (1.6mbps - fap 425MB/day).

5/13 to 6/14 Awesome Performance. Consistent Performance. Was NEVER fapped during that period. Speeds during so called "PEAK TIME" were never affected.... (later on, the major excuse by tech support)..  95% of the PRO PLUS plan at ALL TIMES 24/7

NOW, Look at 6/15 to 6/19. a DRASTIC decrease in speeds.

Note... None of these times were in FAP, and there was nothing wrong with the equipment. (noting there a few high spikes in speeds several times).

6/15 is when I called ECC again. First words out of their mouths "We do not guarantee speeds... Accept the system with its flaws of cancel immediately...... I wanted to hear what Tier-4 had to say again, and of course, the same ole excuses....They never or will admit that they throttle, and the NOC will never be available for a discussion. FINALLY, on 6/20, ECC stated "we will NOT go through this again, We will cancel your account immediately, and you are no longer obligated...Please return your equipment".

Ok, they didn't want to deal with a problem that has repeated itself TWICE! Actually on 6/19, I had TOLD them to cancel it, and I was going to dispute any charges to my credit card.

Some people probably dont mind being throttled.....But It I was going to pay $79.99 a month for 1.6mbps service... i'm going to get it or else. Else happened to be the outcome.

If the SAME has happened to you and you aren't complaining....well, then you deserve the sucky speeds you are getting.

  8. On, say,  day 34, start doing like a couple of speed tests during the AM, and one like at 3pm, 6pm and 8pm (1 hour BEFORE peak time, twice during it).

Matter of fact, I'd tell him to start doing them NOW (so you will have proof that the speeds changed).....

Do the tests on the Hughesnet Speetest Page (so they can be documented).

    I think its at  customercare.myhughesnet.com

Your right its HN9000 ....I know what your saying definitely had speed issues on the old system. Prior to this most recent issue about a year or so ago had the same deal with the slow downs during peak hours after getting switched to a different transponder the speed was fine until abut a month ago? My brothers system will see 30days this week using the Spaceway3, I'm very curious of the outcome, he is on the base package too.

  9. By the way, Its an  HN9000, not a DW9000 system (in your signature line).

I had the Pro + Plan from signup. 425MB a day was plenty allowance for me.  I had 1.5mbps From May 13, 2009 to Jun 15.... That's when the downhill batte began.  Tech support always blamed the slow speeds from 4pm to 11:59pm on "peak time".....Average 300-500Kbps.

However, from day 1 to 32-33  I was at about 95% of my Plans speed 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK.

So, no one can't argue that they don't deploy some kind of throttling or traffic shaping software.  (they could easily download it in your modem and you would not even know it).

Let the countdown begin.....Spaceway3 installed and thanks to the BBB all free, install went well. Only complaint is my old 7000S had a 375MB limit on the pro plan, the 9000 with the same plan is 300MB so will need the pro plus to get 425MB threshold ......speeds on the pro plan are as advertised currently 1200/200  :grin2:

Will my speeds change in 33days....will be interesting to see?

  10. Yeah, its like bait and switch................Let you have NEAR PERFECT speeds for 30 days while you are in your "SATISFACTION GUARANTEE"...... Then day 32, when you are in a CONTRACT, they just do what ever the hell they want to........

The NOC will never admit to any "traffic shaping", "throttling", or any other kind of network prioritization practices.

I would have kept Hughesnet if they didn't play so dirty . . .  then just outright deny it.

These current users that are getting moved off the 7000 systems.  I'd like to see your speeds in the second month.  While KA band is better, I bet you dont have your full plan's speed after that . . .

  11. The HN9000 on Spaceway 3 will be absolutely great for 31 days...........  Please be sure to report your lousy speeds on day 33!!!!!!

This is what Hughes did for me as well.....should be on Spaceway3 next week. From what I'm reading and looking at my brothers speeds the Ka system will be much better........for now anyway.  I read somewhere that another satellite is going up, but until then they will continue to install and move others like us having complaints onto the Ka band equipment. From my past experiences with getting moved to different sats and transponders.......speeds will be good for awhile, then eventually get overcrowded.

  12. Gotta laugh at this one!!!!  Not the first time I've even caught tech's asked a simple question, then scurring for answers on their intranet, only to be read a script, or to change the subject.  I experienced this more with Wildblue than i did with Hughes!!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

While speaking to Lacey with Wild Blue, we were told that their system works by using a satellite on the customer

  13. You can DEFINATELY tell the members on here that are members of the Wildblue Forums.    OOOHHH wildblue never does any wrong.

Hughesnet and WILDBLUE are EQUALLY as bad................

Hughesnet might be a small small small TAD better than Wildblue.   Never got more than 200K on Wildblue on the 1.0 plan. the CEO cancelled mine....

Had TWO Hughesnet accounts. Throttling after 30 days spoiled it for me. (Cancelled BOTH of them).

Have had Verizon EVDO since then. No contract. No taxes, No throttling, No equipment repairs. No b/s, American tech support, $59 a month

Your doing the smart thing staying with something that cost nothing to update.  Here is some of the consumers complaints about Hughes to sort of balance things out (26 pages of them)

    http://www.consumeraffairs.com/internet/hughes.html

Ron ~ Wildblue Select Pak since 01-2006, Anik F2 Beam 26, service through NRTC, Dell XPS, 2Gig Ram, XP Pro, Router DD-WRT- WRT54GL, Laptop, XP home

  15. Been thru Wildblue (absolutely AWFUL).  Two engineers came out here.  "Nothing's wrong with your system".  BULL!

200K speeds was the best on the 1.0mpbs plan.....

Been thru TWO Hughesnet systems.  Speeds were PERFECT until day 31 when they throttle you down (you're NOT a new customer any longer, and you are IN a contract).  Cancelled Both of them.

THEN CAME EVDO Rev A of Mobile Broadband.  What a relief.  I can finally surf the internet like it was meant to be.

I have a Millenicom (Verizon) card, and consistently get about 1.2mbps at all times.... No contracts, No taxes, No repair bills, No foreign tech support, No high pings, No throttling, NO peak time suffering...

There is a 5gb usage limit, but there is no FAP daily like Hughes.

Going to Mobile broadband was the best decision/move I ever made.  If you can get Verizon in your area, consider it!!!

  16. I've had TWO HP notebooks, and never had any issues out of them.  Currently have a DV6-1030us....

Had a Toshiba as well......Multiple problems.  Mouse buttons stopped working.......Increading Dead Pixels on Screen.

    Poor Tech Support (Phillipines).

I would recommend HP all the way. I've had an AMD and currently an INTEL one.  I dont have a preference in processor.

  17. Moving right along . . . . . . .

  18. Basically, that's it.  Live with the level of the service they provide or cancel it.

I chose not to deal with, and have cancelled two accounts (actually Executive Customer Care cancelled them.....they didn't want to hear me complain anymore).

You can document speed tests all you want, but in the end Tech Support is going to tell you "SPEEDS AREN'T GUARANTEED" (and so will the tech Caren in Corporate Customer Care.).

If you dont want to deal with Hughes, Document a few lousy speed tests, a few lousy web reponse tests (from their servers), a few documented emails to tech support, and a few "live" phone calls.  Document the responses.    Then. Write the Better business Bureau of Maryland . . Document everything to them......  You'll get a call from Executive Customer Care . . . William, Carmella, Alexis, Caren . . .

They'll give you free months to get you to stay, but if you're like me, it was "This ends...now".......Make sure you have your billing on a credit card, **NOT** connected to your bank account . . . Dispute amounts you feel you didn't receive the quality of service you paid for.

(I disputed my install because it wasn't done right, and I didn't keep the service).  The bank is obviously tired of dealing with Hughes.

[email protected]        is the email address (but dont bother writing it until you've did all of the above).

GOOD LUCK!  I am using wireless now and couldn't be happier!

Unfortunately I do live with it, but I shouldn't have to. If this is a problem with HughesNets equipment, such as old satellites that can't handle the bandwidth anymore, why should I live with it. If HughesNet was a reputable company they would fix the problem at their cost instead of telling customers there is something wrong with your equipment and we must send a technician to your house at a base cost of $125.00. I've been reading a lot of stuff about new satellites and HN9000 modems that improve the service. I don't know if this information is correct but, if HughesNet were reputable they would inform their current customers and offer to send out a tech to replace/fix the problem at no charge. After all I have paid them $959.88 per year for the past 3.5 years and will continue to pay them if they fix the problem. It's the customers acceptance of substandard service that allows corporations to get away with this crap. Well I'm not one of those customers.
