  1. Actually there are laws against selling children in the USA. I hope you were joking.
  2. I dumped AT&T as my carrier long ago. Funny but doesn't the recent AT&T buyout of Bellsouth violate the Anti-trust orders of The US Federal Courts to seperate sections of Bell telephone???
  3. DVD43 Free & DVDShrink.... so far this combo will copy anything made (ARCOS go bye bye), and doesn't need large amounts of Hard Drive space and double ripping like the DVD Decrypter/DVDShrink combo does..
  4. Actually he may have a virus trying to access the file, or a failed attempt at trying to change a file or directory's attributes can cause XP to glitch up and try to access the file all the time. Maybe an error scan of the disk would fix the problem. And for sure run a good virus scan.
  5. Longhorn Beta 2 build 5270 x86 Longhorn Beta 2 build 5270 x64 Both current builds, about 3 builds from golden from what I have read, probably 95% complete.
  6. I have tried the beta of Vista 32bit and 64bit on 2 machines. Vista is a Hardware HOG!!! Like trying to run XP on a 486, and the 2 machines were an Athlon64 3200 and AMD Sempron 3000, both with a Nvidia FX5700 in em. I read an article that stated that only about 50% of brand new computers will be able to run Vista. It truly IS a conspiracy to force people to upgrade, gates himself has all but admitted it.
  7. GiPo@FileUtilities That is what I use, it can move copy or delete files at windows startup. It can also create "Hardlinks" to files (objects that look like files but more than one can point to the same data on the disk).
  8. This is what is happening to my 3000/512 connection which was perfect until a couple of months ago. I have 2 friends in the same area who have the same problem. :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 387 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 1013 kB) Upload Speed is:: 47 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server1) Test Time:: Sun Feb 12 2006 02:21:56 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 7X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 21.79 sec Diagnosis: Looks Great : 16.57 % faster than the average for host (tds.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-VWN0FH98Y
  9. Probably an oversubbed ISP like mine.....really nothing to do unless you have more than one broadband ISP in your area (I dont).
  10. Considering this and the whole Vista mess I think it may be time to start getting a little more friendly with Linux.
  11. Actually I would reccomend Uploading at 20 or even 15
  12. Get a zero-fill utility from the drive manufacturer website, or get DBAN (Dariks Boot And Nuke) and run a zerofill/quick wipe from it. I have squeezed extra life out of problem drives by using just a good ol zero-fill utility. Be aware that EVERYTHING stored on your drive will be ERASED.
  13. If it had been line noise it would have showed up in the logs in the "modem". That fix of new phone lines sounds fishy to me. Qwest must have done something else too.
  14. The blue frog ate too many system resources and took too long to open, it's utorrent(mutorrent) all the way now.
  15. There is not much you can do, unless you happen to be lucky and live in a place where you can get broadband from another provider (BTW, most of the time multiple ISPs use the same network system in a town). If you can get cable go for it. TDS Telecom brought 1500/512 DSL to my town 2 years ago, since then it has been getting progressively slower and slower. The slow down was being caused by too many customers being hooked into the system, eventually dropping everyones average transfer waaay below there caps. If you contact them about it they deny it and say you have a "virus" or "spyware" slowing you down. I am actually a spyware expert and know exactly what is and is NOT running on my system at any time. I can do traces back and forth through the network and can tell where things are bottlenecking. 3 months ago they allowed people to "upgrade" to 3000/512 after that I am lucky if I see 1Mb most of the time while paying for 3Mb. I am calling soon and having my bill cut back to the 1.5Mb so at least I am not paying for a whole lot more than I am getting. I am not lucky enough to have any other options other than TDS DSL except *yuk* DirecWay or good ol mind numbing dial-up.
  16. It STILL looks like an ISP problem to me, I speak from experience with my DSL.
  17. Your ISP probably just has there system oversubscribed, like mine. Too many people on one system can cause major slowdowns. The last two jumps in your route may just be your firewall working.
  18. A little off topic but.... Last year my aunt got a small 401K settlement from her divorce. She cashed it in early and got charged $200 Federal income tax. She assumed she could not get this back in a refund, so she neglected to file (she is on Social Security Supplemental Income SSI, no taxes). She did receive a 1099-R on it. Recently someone told her she should have filed and got her return. Is this possible considering her income source and if so how would a person do it, file a 1040 for last year even with it a year late?
  19. Been there, done that. Although Opera was good I have gotten attached to all the versatility that Firefox Extensions offer.
  20. I love Lunix, it is the Opertional Systems of the fyoucher. LMFAO
  21. Firefox ROCKS!!!!......but in recent releases it is starting to show similar instabilities to IE (1.5), in addition hackers/spammers are starting to figure out how to hijack it. I am guilty of rarely on occasion using IE. My opinion is that the combination of the two works good right now.
  22. Actually uTorrent can be configured to Seed for ANY share ratio.
