I used to run Firefox myself. I noticed that IE6 was consistently faster on speed test. I know that is not the only considerartion, just one point.

I have found the problem causing this. It was a setting in XP Smoker Pro. This setting had to be checked to show the option to "turn off computer"-- Enable Shutdown from Authentication Dialog Box . Thanks for all the suggestions to correct this issue.

The problem is I do not just have a windows install disk. I only have the complete reinstall disk from the manufactuer of the computer.

Is there no other option? Can this not possibly be repaired?

I no longer have the option to turn off or restart my computer from the option that used to be in the lower left corner after logging off of windows. Is there a fix to this issue?

Well to me personally I am glad I got my DW6000. Although I do not do alot of downloading like you are mentioning. I you are FAP'ED you will slow down to a crawl. Some have posted that you can not do anything at all. No download, no surfing. I have not experienced that so I can not tell you from experience. Hitting the FAP at night will take a bit longer. I can not say that it will be recharged by the time you get up. You will have to calculate that from the refill rate. As far as recharging while you are downloading, yes I believe you are correct it will refill your bucket as you download. But if you are going to download music and movies, you will get FAP'ED alot. It will not be able to refill your bucket near as fast as you will empty it. You would be wise to get a download manager. It will take longer to download but you will not get FAP'ed if you set it up correctly.

Persnonally if I had access to DSL I would not be getting Direcway. It should only be a option if dial-up IS your only option. Here is some information that may help you.

Not to bad for a DW6000. My speed results are pretty stable throughout the day.

Hello truk2004 and welcome to the forum. I feel the most important factor will be your installation. If it has been peaked out, included a good cross pol. Signal does not effect your speed although it will effect you in bad weather, like heavy clouds, rain, snow. If you signal drops to low you will be disconnected. As for tweaks I only use one tweak with my system. It can be found in this thread http://www.testmy.net/topic-1703 . The TCP Optimizer there is different from one that you may be able to find elsewhere on the net. Good luck getting your system up to speed. Remember it may take up to 48hrs for the NOC to register your new settings, so if you use the optimizer give it some time. Your speed should level off

I understand sparky. I just wanted to try to suggest some things to check. There was no way for me to know that you had all that knowledge. No problem. Now that we have eliminated all that stuff we can go in a different direction. If you are using firefox that is part of the problem with your speed. Direcway is much faster using Internet Explorer. Are your speed test that you have posted been while using IE? As for if anyone has seen speed over 500KB, here is a link to my average.

I hope your speed issues level off. Remember it may take a couple of days for the NOC to catch up with your changes. I only use 1 tweak and that is TCP Optimizer found in this link. It is different from the one you may be able to find elsewhere.

898/53 I am pleased with my DW6000. Speed seems to have leveled off and doing well in all other aspects.

I think I agree with you. My upload has jumped. Now if it will just stay there. I will probably be disappointed on Monday.
