  1. Tower in paradise yes people think I'm nuts around here.
  2. The tower is 73Ft high, the antennas top is 80Ft' and the mast above that is another 1-1/2' higher so the total all together is 81-1/2Ft tall. Tower originally sold for $3800 new. I got it for $700 used with ham radio antennas the huge 20 foot loong 8 element mosley ones. I sold the antennas off and ended up with a like new tower for $400. I used 5 yards (18,000+ lbs) of concrete 5x5x5 for the base and 32" anchor bolts to secure the tower to the base. The cars are about 60Ft' from the tower. I'm a good 45ft above any tree in my area.
  3. I'm 11 miles from the AP. I'm running at 95%-98% of the speeds they offer. If I wanted more power I'd run LMR-600 up the tower to the antenna from the radio and pick up about 5-6 db's that are lost every 100ft from the LMR-400 I currenty have. But that would be silly.. 600 is very expensive. Realistically right now I only have $2,200 into the entire setup (Did my own tower erection/base/footing work) so making it more expensive isn't really in my best interest. And after cancelling Direcway at $60 per month I now pay pay $40 for my wireless and I cancelled my Verizon ground telephone line that ran me $55 a month and I now pay for VOIP through Broadvoice at $10 per month. So after about 4 years or so if all holds up it will have paid for itself in my mind just from the savings of my previous internet/telephone connections. And I'll have a nice low latency true broadband connection instead of that laggy FAP infested pile of steamy poo Direcway offered
  4. Yes.. This antennas primary use is for backhaul/pipeline connections.. It can handle DS3 pipelines easily. It's overkill for a residential install to say the least..
  5. The tower is designed as a freestanding/self supporting tower and the manual recommends not using guy wires. It is
  6. DOH! I should have seen that on my own. Thanks for the link!
  7. From what I've heard from other customers is that they plan to upgrade the speed package in the near future to 3mb/1mb so that will be nice!
  8. I put the tower up and the WISP climbed it and mounted the 4Ft parabolic antenna that I bought so we could make that long 900MHz wireless connection. 1500/768 speed package.
  9. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;attach=2784 D/L that file. Open it up and there is many different speed options to pick from.

  11. I wasn't aware of 768k ISDN service that the comparison shart shows betwen my scores and other typical service speeds?
  12. Here's an example of what I had to do to get Broadband out here, other than Satellite internet hehe. A different speed test and line quality test for anyone interested also..
  13. Speeds aren't super fast or anything.. But I live a good 15 miles from the nearest city with any high speed internet options. I put up a tower so I could get wireless internet out here Latency is awesome too so I can game now :::.. 14. I wasn't to sure if I should run a cable/DSL type of tweak setting? I don't know what the difference is really between a wireless connection and say a cable/DSL one.. I also didn't see a 1500/768 van buren file so I thought I'd ask.. Right now I get about 1200 down on average and around 500-550 up. I'm pretty happy with the connection actually since I'm in a very remote area, however I would like to get the most of it so if someone has some suggestion let me know~
  15. Just as the title says. My sons new place is out of reach of true broadband. He is able to receive ISDN service I'm told, and I'm now wondering if anyone has any experence with 128k ISDN service and how they liked it? What kid of ping times they received etc etc.. Thanks !
  16. I feel so dumb for getting tied up with Direcway.. All I had to do was search for reviews and I didn't I took for granted I'd get broadband. Ugh never again will I be taken advantage of so easily. Worst part of all of this is I have to eat the $599 inital installation/equipment fee(s). Which after including that price in with my monthly fee makes out to be over 122$ a month for their service over the last 8 months.. I can afford it no problem it's not like I'm actually mad about the cost.. Just how I was treated, or should I say mistreated by such a misleading company.
  17. I mean the download speeds are fine hands down a huge upgrade from Dialup.. But with the 169mb daily cap it sort of ruins even having that download speed.. The uploads are fricking hideous. Slower than 56gay 90% of the time. Loadign webpages is as bad or worse than a good 56gay connection, and I won't even comment on loading https:// sites
  18. SWEET! Now I feel better Can't wait to play CS palms are sweaty I want to use that AWP like I used to with cable before i moved cant believe how addicted I am heeheh.
  19. I'm kind of concerned about something that I didn't realize would be a problem at first. I just ordered wireless internet thats 768k downloand and 768k upload. It averages 90K both ways and never dips below according to the few customers I've spoke to so far. I realize that's not as fast as most of you folks but I thought it would be a great upgrade from Satellite and my main reason to switch over to wireless was in hopes of satisfactory game play online for those twitch FPS games where you need a sub 80ms ping to compete. I've now been told by quite a few people that it won't be fast enough to play FPS online games? They were telling me I need atleast twice that fast?? I know you guys will know because theres a lot of real guru's here and I'm not sure I was informed correctly.. Atleast I sure hope not. If anyone can enlighten me on this I would really appreciate it. I know it's a very simpleton question but I really no have no idea and I'm concerned now. So thanks for your help.
  20. Hey thanks for the info. Is that connection seem ok speed wise? I opted against the 1024/354 plan for the 768/768 because I thought having the faster upload speed would be nice? I see some peoples speed tests on here probably makes mine seem poor But hey it will be a heck of an upgrade from satellite!
  21. Hey people I just ordered a 768 download/768 upload wireless connection. What can I expect to get for Testmy/net download/upload results? I'm going to assume I'll be running at full potential. I don't know how to convert kbp's to KB's. Thanks for any help.
