  3. i am planning to Install VOIP { voice Over internet Protocol } Do u thnk  Vonage {VOIP } would work on my Road Runner Cable ? Let me know. Thanks for your Information.

    Andy

My connection I have through my provider is  1024/512 on my upload I normally hit around 450, my Lingo Voip works great, even all the features call waiting etc.

  4. I know the ping is still to high. Does  it mean anything when it times out on 2 like it is doing? Never did it before.  I know this will sound like a dumb question but what does my ISP have to do do get my ping where it needs to be. They will never give me a straight answer, just that it is the normal time.  I cannot even get  them to unblock port 69 so my Lingo phone will work. Lingo had to do s/thing on their end to make it work.

Isp stated they were working on it. So if you could let me know what they need to do , I can relay it to them.

  5. Got the new modem today it is a Intellinet speeds stayed the same. But when I run the tracrt this is what I get.

  6. Thanx. Hopefully they will be bringing the modem out tomorrow. So I will post up when I get it. connected. I also found out that my ISP was blocking some ports  and filtering them, they did that about 6 months ago when they were viruses going around. I found that out when I got my VOIP phone. Lingo was telling me that my' port 69 was either being blocked or filtered. Does that effect my speeds any?? :?

  7. Got a call from the main tech guy from my ISP, he told me my ping times were not right. They are sending me out a new modem and claims he will get my ping times down to where they should be at.  He agreed with you Van Buren on my first hop! Glad you pointed it out for me, at least I can act like I know something about DSL.

Hopefully my constant complaining will pay offf.

  8. I agree it sucks big time. I have friend who have Charter who pay half of what I pay and have 3 times  faster speeds. This CO charges $101.00 for there 2meg service. I have a friend of mine I went to school with who works for the CO trying to get her to increase my speed w/out telling anyone.

Hopefuly if I keep bitch**g they will do more for me.

    Will keep you posted.

  9. That tracert is weird. There was a hop added, yet the rest of the tracert is the same. I'm afraid nothing will improve.

I added voip to my connection. I guess that's why there is an extra.  II did not look close at the tracert. My bad!

  10. 1 45 ms 44 ms 44 ms gf-dyn-gateway.gtec.net [66.117.105.1]

    thats the problem

your ping should be around 5-15 ms to that 1 hop.

call your ISP and ask them to check signals for you, also show them this traceroute.

    good luck

    VanBuren :)

    Van Buren.

You helped me out b4,  I ran a tracert test  my ping to my first hop is good now, just wanting to know if you have any suggestions for increasing my speed. I have DRTCP rwin is set at 13340 MTU 1500 Everything else default .Here is my latest trace.Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

  11. Cool! This is by far the best forum and testing site I have found. Everyone is eager to help.  I have been telling everyone I know about it. I use to tell people to go to DSL reports  until I found Testmy.net .

I just wanted some opinions on Voip, I work out of my home and I needed a good calling solution. Cell phone and this phone company I have would cost me about $700.00 a month. I have never used it or know anyone that has, thanks for the feedback.

  12. Anyone on the board using VOIP with their broadband connection?  I just ordered through Lingo.com. I live in a small town where my DSL costs me $69.95 per month for 1024/512 service and to top it off with their  phone service everyplace I call is long distance. Cell phone works as long as I am outside or in my kitchen.

Just wanted some feedback if anyone is using this servie.

    Appreciate it.

  13. A 10220 rwin setting seems to work the best. I am still complaining to the phone company. I live in an area where there the population is about 10,000 for the whole county. I am about 9000 feet from the CO. I am getting numbers but at last count their were only about 450 DSL subscribers in the whole county!

I told tech support I would like to get what I am paying for. Explained to him in these term "How would you like it if everytime you went to the store and bought a 12 pack of beer and when you get home there are only 7 beers in it". He said he understands and will get back with me. I will keep you all posted!!

  14. I guess I am screwed!called isp they are telling me that is normal ping time for them. Only bad thing about living in a small town they are the only choice for broadband here. Tech guy told me they limit bandwidth. I am paying $70 per month for 1024/512. They have a 2meg servie for $101 per month.

  15. Thanx Van Buren! I changed my Rwin to 10220 and set MTU 1500 speed is a little better. I had techs here yesterday but I will them today and let you know.

    Latest speed test.
