    Getting above 3.0MB

    Since the router says that people who verizon says to have a 3.0MB connection have 3360Mbps, has anybody been able to get their connection above 3.0MB. I can only get mines to 2.9MB.

    The 3360 is over provisioning at the Verizon CO/RT to help offset some of the inherit losses and overhead.  If they provisioned at 3000,  you would probably yield ~2.5 MB instead.  :icon_pale: Be happy, your looking good with that excellent score. Sadly no one gets the full 3MB. HTH

    The 3360 is your provisioning. It's over provisioned to compensate for some overhead losses. Your ready to Rock and Roll !  :D

    So the people with DSL don't look at there 2.9mbps score and say only 83% of average? Something is wrong here. Just an idea :) 

    YaY !!! It freaks new folks out when they see that and think they have a problem. I've ask about this in the past and the response was... well luke warm. Some of the other ISP categories may/do have the same problem ? Thanks for looking into it.

    How easy to use is bittorrent? And is there a better program that is safer on your computer to use? Something with as little risk of spyware or viruses. Thanks all. ;)

    An easy starter BT client, (No Java) http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/ I still use it today. ;)

    Which are best DVD+R discs to buy?

    I am currently using memorex 4.7 GB discs for my DVD's. Let me know if that is a standard or do they have DVD+R discs that have more GB. Thanks all.

    Single layer DVD, 4.7 GB is as good as it gets. Get a dual layer burner for more. Prepare for hefty prices for the media.  :shock:

    I have had very good luck with Ritek DVD +and -. from...http://www.supermediastore.com/ritek-dvd-plus-r-section.html

    They have good every day prices and a lot of sales they will email you. Just use a spam acct. ;) although I've never had a problem with spam from them.

    At 3:51 PM EST the space shuttle Discovery will launch into space once again. THis will be the first launch of a space shuttle in the US since Feb of 2003 when the Columbia space shuttle blew up on re entry. My prayers go out to the Astonauts in todays launch may everything be successful.

    Anyone else haveing any thoughts about todays launch?  :)

    Fingers crossed and hoping for the best. If NASA looses another orbiter I'm afraid it would severely curtail if not end the US space program. With only 5 years and another 20 missions left in this design before a replacement is in place. Another disaster would immediately bring calls to pull funding out from under a new vehicle.  :cry: God speed to all aboard  and NASA.

    Not all Comcast franchises are operated the same. Some are pretty good, others like the Comcast franchise  were I live Sucks pretty hard. It's just the luck of the draw and where you live.  It's akin to the old Cable VS DSL debate... it just depends on where you live and how good  the DSL or Cable Co that operates there is. My 2

    WoW ! I know the database for the various ISPs is out of kilter here .* cough* * cough * (verizon.net) !!!.....  *               

    But 6.38% !?? Maybe the "relatives" would appreciate a little tweaking !??  I've heard that RODERS is the pits but, ...Damn !  :whaa:
