I was wondering if anyone knows the name of a program that I'am pretty sure is made by microsoft that is supposed to speed up the boot up time on XP. I had to reformat and now when i get to the blue Welcome screen it pauses for about 12 seconds then logs me in. The Hard drive isnt even working when it pauses there. If you know what the name of this app is or have any other recomendations let me know. I have already defraged with diskkepper 10 and did anti virus/spyware scans.

I am looking to buy a anti virus and was wondering what you guys recomend. I have been using AVG Free but it keeps messing up and wont update and i keep having to reinstall it. Right now iam most considering Panda Titanium 2006 antivirus + antispyware, because it seems to have the best UI and scans fast. But I was just wondering what you recommend. For now iam on a 30 day trial of PC - Cillin which seems a little slow. Anyways thanks!

Well my cable company started testing HD about a week ago so I called when I noticed the channels on the guide and asked the manager if she could get me authorized for the channels. We used to live next door to her and we are friends so she said no problem and authorized my box for them. The HD line up is pretty good for a small cable company. The picture quality is great full 1920x1080i, (720p on ESPN). Very happy especialy considering its still just in testing phase.

My cable company recently did another speed up grade. It was a small upgrade of 3 to 4 Mbps but its still pretty nice. Here is a download speed test at 9:00 on a weeknight so as you can see my speeds are rock solid at all times of the day which is realy the thing i like most. There is also a upload test. I know most of you have much higer then 4 Mbps down but this isnt bad for a cable company that only serves a few towns that are all pretty low population.

Also this is untweaked, if anyone would make me a cablenut file for 4 down and 1 up i would very much appreciate it.

I was recently having some serious problems with my cable internet connection. I would usally get about 300 kbps downstream during peak hours. I couldnt even stream video. Well after sending several e-mails to tech support for about 5 weeks and never getting a reply I call my local cable office one afternoon when the problem was happening. When someone answerd I asked to speak to the manager or the person in charge. She checked and said that she was bussy but could have her call me back or take a message. I told the problem I was having and how no one from tech support had ever sent me a e-mail back. Well she goes to see if the head technician is available. He wasnt so she said she would have him call me back ASAP. I was suprised to get a call back 10 mins later. I described my problem to him and he said they were aware of it and the problem was with SBC who provides there bandwith and they were discussing how to fix it with them. Supprisingly he offerd me a half of month of credit for the bill and said the problem would be fixed by the end of the weekedend. He also upped my download speed cap from 3.0 Mbps down to 4.0 for my trouble. Not to bad get the problem fixed, get some money back ,and get faster download speed for free!

I tryed that too and it was a no go. It said boot disk failure and to insert a bootable disk and press enter. Any other ideas

I downloaded the beta and here is what the file contained when i was done downloading i tryed buring just the ISO to a DVD but could not boot from it. This is whats in the ISO when i extract it i also tryed buring that to a dvd and could not boot from it. Is my download missing something? And i checked my BIOS and it is set to boot from CD first.

They told me when they came out earlier that day to try and fix my upload speed that later that night they were going to be bonding channels together or adding more channels or something like that to increase bandwidth and it help alot. My upload speed used to be about 200kb.

Ok, good. Thanks for the help. And I e-mailed my ISP telling them there needs to be a way to check your network usage, and now their is on their page. I have used about 2 gigs of bandwith this month so far and i got plent to spare.

I figured out why my upload was lower then it should be. I used Ashampoo to optimize the connection and it messed up the upload speed, Heres the speed after setting it back to windows default

My ISP has a new limit on my usage per month. They say i can use up to 80GB worth of downstream bandwith and 40 Gb worth of upload bandwith. I was wondering do I need to wory about going over the limit or is this plent. I surf the internet quite a bit, and play games online everyonce and a while.

This might not seem very high to some of you but my ISP FINALLY upgraded their service today. They changed from 1.5Mbs to 3.0. After 4 years of having 1.5 it seems completley diffrent.

To me it seems like a good idea, since cablelynx is the only broadband ISP I can get right now hopefully if this was to happen other companys like comcast or something would start servicing my area. I cant stand my current ISP. Anyways what do you guys think.
