Is this possible without getting another ip from Comast....I have heard of it being done but i am not sure of wut service it was for....any help is greatly appreciated

Well befor i was gettin exactly 4 mbps connection.........but now i get 5.2....... :::.. Thank you.....i just used security task manager to quarentine some processes...and my connection is fine for now...but i will take a look at wut u mentioned....thanks

I was having a problem with download speeds and poste one thred about, i somehwat figured out the solution, when of the cpu processes was using up resources while i downloading causing the computer to stutter.....well before downloading i went and close a few processes and my download speed was back to normal....the only problem is that windows media files wouldnt play, it said something about updating drivers.....how do i get around this or get rid of those processes???????

I opened up task manager during the test and the syster was going crazy. It was using up alot of resources, but my upload speed is perfect???

Thats what i thought it was initially, but my laptop runs fine with voip...nearly 500K/s download speed....but when i use my pc im down to aroudn 250 k/s. Is it something with m yPC.....the upload speeds are the same with both connections....

Also....my uploads are normal on both the laptop and deskptop....i also compared it with other comcast user and its about the same.....somethings wrong witht the download speed with my deskktop ....

Now i get about half the speed and my pc stutters alot..... I do have the vonage broadband phone service installed, and when i disconnect it my downloads speeds go back to normal on my desktop....when i take the ethernet cord from the desktop and put in my laptop the downloads are the same on the laptop (this is with the broadband phone on). Any suggestions....??
